We have to start cleaning out FIL's basement as that is where we will be living. We are wondering what we can do with all the crap. I am thinking of doing a yard sale. If not donate to who? Most will need to be thrown out: encyclopedias, Readers Digest from 1965, key chains that are so old, the key ring is rusty, get my drift....

What about ebay for the old books... believe me there are people out there who buy ANYTHING!!

Do you get charged if you place an item up for auction and no one buys it? I never sold on eBay before.

yes you get charged a listing price. based on what you list the item for. Im not sure exactly. ITs not much, but if its a few items, it will add up and not be worth it. Try craigslist.org. its free to list on there. my SIL sold lots of stuff right outof her apartment, just by listing there. see how others 'word' their ads, so maybe you can sell several things at once. (theyd have to come to your house to see the items in most cases, unless you make other arrangements)
