Anyone know what I should expect to pay if I hired a cleaning Service to come in once a month to clean my 950-1000 sq ft apartment? I've filled out stuff online for quotes but havn't heard back except for a few that say they do not Service available in Long Beach.

Re: Cleaning Service
I keep on meaning to ask the same thing!!!
I've seen such big differences in prices...my parents pay about $75 for their whole house which isn't too small but I think its only because they've been a customer a long time. A friend of their's pays more than them for a smaller house with the same guy.
If you're interested, i think the guy is from Freeport so I can try and get info. He comes all the way to Huntington Station for them.
I called a few places about our place, which is a 2 Bed/bath. i'm not positive I think its around 1100-1200 sq ft, but they told me $90-100.
If anyone knows somone in the Holbrook area let me know!!!

What does a cleaning service do exactly? Do they just dust and vacuum or will they also clean the bathroom and kitchen, mop, etc?

Just ask the cleaning service if they use their own stuff... Usually they just use your vacuum and cleaning supplies.

I hate cleaning too, especially the bathroom!!!I know exactly what you mean though, I grew up in LB.
I should probably call him myself since he knows me but I don't think he'll come out that far and if he did he'd prob charge me more. I'm pretty sure they bring their own equipment too.
I'll see if I can get the info tonight when I talk to my parents.

Re: Cleaning Service
I bought a ROOMBA (robot vacuum) when we got our puppy last year; that thing is bloody amazing. It won't replace a REAL vacuum but does a great job 'in between' vacuuming. Works on hardwood, carpets, and has the stair sensor. Its fantastic. I turn it on when i go to work and it finds its way back to the charger when its finished...
Recently bought a SCOOBA to mop our huge tile floor too; its a bit more 'fiddly' than the roomba one but still a huge help...

Does it only do one room at a time, or can it find its way into other rooms / the hallway?

Good question! I wanna know also - if I put it on before I go to work does it clean my whole apt?

It will do either - roam free for as long as the battery has 'juice' (around an hour) OR you can restrict it to one room or area using the Virtual Walls it comes with. Here's a good 'video' of how it works:
Roomba On the right side, click 'WATCH ROOMBA IN ACTION'
