Cleaning your engagement ring

When I appraised my engagement ring the appraisor told me that I should clean my ring once a week - I was rather shocked about the frequency but I was just wondering how often and with what do you girls clean yours?

I clean mine every other week or so. I dont really clean it that often.

I use windex and hot water. I forgot who said it, but I remember seeing that on here.

I clean mine approx. every week 1/2.
I clean it with toothpaste.
leaves it nice and sparkly

I also use toothpaste with a toothbrush .. gets into all the little spaces and does bring out a great sparkle

.. but, no, I don't keep up with it once a week.

Re: Cleaning your engagement ring

I do it whenever I get a chance, which lately hasn't been much
I clean it with a toothbrush and soap and it comes out great.
I didn't know toothpaste worked too. Maybe I'll try that next time.

My jewelry said gentle soap with a small brush and to bring it in for inspection an cleaning there every 3 months. It stays clean so long after the jewlery uses his magic stuff

I didn't even realize we had to clearn it so often. i thought all we had to do is bring it to jewler once a year.

What was I thinking!

Ladies, this actually works great.

Take two tablespoons of wisk detergent
6 oz of water
Let ring sit in soapy water for on hour (once a week)
Afterward gently scrub ring with a soft toothbrush
Rinse

It comes out so sparkly!

i only get it cleaned once every few months...but i run it under hot water every time i put it on! if you dont have time to clean, hot water really does the trick!

does the shower count?? (i wear it in there!)

if it totally needs it, i throw it in a cup with a alka seltzer and it gets the dirt off...

Re: Cleaning your engagement ring

i used to put in in denture cleaner (the alka seltzer type) till i ran out
I usually use mild soap and brush or toothpaste and brush
I'm trying the windex and water now. (i clean it about once a week... i'm anal about that )

Re: Cleaning your engagement ring

i clean it once a week usually becuse i like when it's all sparkly. i usually use a jewlery cleaner my mother has and a toothbrush. and once in a while i use the vibrating jewelry cleaning thing - not sure what it's called but it looks AMAZING when it's done with that!

Re: Cleaning your engagement ring

I've been engaged for about 7 months and I just cleaned mine last week with toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. What a difference! I looked like new. I will now try to keep it up every 1-2 weeks because it makes it look so sparkly and new.
