What is everyone doing regarding wedding invite envelopes? If you not having a company do the outside envelope addresses, are you using clear labels or printing the addresses on the envelopes??

I may test run the printing on the actual envelopes but I forsee that not working out so I will most likely use clear labels

i haven't decided yet i MAY get colored envelopes, print on white labels and cut the corners with a fancy paper cutter thing so they don't just look like labels

I printed directly on the envelopes. They came out awesome if I do say so myself! I picked a nice calligraphy font and went for it.

Re: Clear Labels or not?
Since my mom is doing them for me (i´m back in Ecuador and the invites had to go out last week!!) we´re just doing clear labels. There is no way she would be able to handle printing directly on the envelope.

This is what I'm doing. I have black envelopes, but I'm going to put a kind of damask design on the edges or the white labels.

Re: Clear Labels or not?
I have printed on the envelopes in the past for my sister's bridal shower. They came out nice, but I do remember it being a PITA at first. The real pain is that I'm gonna have to do outer and inner envelopes. Ugh! So not looking forward to this. I'd recommend printing on the envelopes, but if you're driving yourself nuts I think the clear labels look just as nice. I used the clear ones for my STD and my mom didn't even realize.

Printing on the envelopes
This is what I did and once I had the template, it was easy to cut and paste the different names and address.

Print right on the envelopes. IMO the clear label is not formal enough for a wedding invitation

i may end up with clear labels because i know im gonna mess up the printing. IMO people exaggerate wayyy too much on the 'classiness' of the clear labels.

I'm going to print directly onto the envelopes. We're doing colored envelopes as well. Still have to test it out but I'm avoiding labels at all costs. If I have to 'trace' over to give it a more calligraphy look because it might not show up as well on colored envelopes, I will. I think the key is to test out different color fonts to see what shows up best on your colored envelopes. It'll be a lot of trial and error but I think once you get it right it should be a breeze.

I think the problem is they lack class (when used for a formal wedding invitation), not their classiness lol. It's SO easy to print directly on the envelopes, you can do so with most any home printers. Therefore I highly recommend printing on the envelopes. It really looks a lot nicer for your once in a lifetime wedding invitations. We printed the envelopes for our e-party ourselves. They came out really nicely.

I'm having mine printed by the invite place. You shouldn't use labels on wedding invitations, so I would say print them each invididually.
