Clipping fingernails at your desk at work - OK or a 'no no'?
This guy at work I'm not particularly fond of has a habit of clipping his nails at his desk. We all sit in cubbies and I have the lovely honor of sitting next to him. So today is the 2nd day in 3 weeks that I've heard 'clip....clip....clip' and turned to see him hunched over doing something. You know when you hear that sound it's a nail clipper.
He's done it at least once that I know of other than 3 weeks ago. I find this sooooo disgusting.
Should I say something? I'm sure if I do he'll stop but I feel like such a b!tch if I do.
But am I wrong to feel it's innappropriate for him to even be doing that where others can hear??

I think clipping fingernails anywhere but in the privacy of your bathroom(or nail salon) is inappropriate, skeevy and just HORRIBLE. i don't understand why people feel like it's okay to do this on the train...or in restaurants...I would definitely say something...Be sort of sarcastic, but keep it light... 'Uh, can you not do that here?'

Not only is it inappropriate, but in very poor taste as well......it is extremely poor hygene and can spread around the bacteria that grows under fingernails.....yech....I am so schkeeved right now.
ETA: I would probably say something that would make me come off like a b*tch, so I am not going to be much help in that area, but I would probably offer to show him where the men's room is......

Ewwww!! My boss did that in a meeting. This guy was making a whole presentation and out of no where we hear 'clip,clip,clip' I swear the whole room stopped and stared at him. He didnt know everything stopped and when he FINALLY looked up he smiled and put them away. what a jacka$$

So am I. This guy isn't gross or anything otherwise but so ANNOYING. Talks too loud on the phone, tries to act buddy buddy with attorneys that he hardly knows, and is NOSY as hell. Like he'll come up and listen to a conversation someone is having with someone else like it's the most normal thing to do. Once I told him he was being rude doing that but he thought we were talking about work. I said 'doesn't matter, it's obviously a private conversation, no matter the subject'.

LOL... my FW *hates* it when I clip my toenails anywhere but in the bathroom.
I could only imagine how she would feel if someone was doing it at work.

Your own bathroom and nowhere else is acceptable to me!!!! (although DH insists on doing it on the front porch/lawn!!!!!!)

eeewwwwwwwww....the women i sit next to does it from time to time and i find it so repulsive. we have these things now called bathrooms, where you can do your private business.

ewwwwwwww someone was clipping their nails behind me on the train the other night....i kept imagining a nail flying into my hair or something. I wanted to give them a dirty look but I couldn't see them behind me - but i heard the sounds. I can't imagine what the person sitting next to them was thinking - if i was next to them i would not be able to keep my mouth shut!

That's really gross because, seriously, those clippings can go flying sometimes I have an even worse story for you though. Back in college, my friend roomed with this girl (they were friends at first, but not by the end of the year). This girl would sit on my friends desk chair and clip her TOENAILS!!!! And I'm pretty sure she didn't have the wastebasket in front of her. Makes me so glad I'm not in college anymore
