Since I haven't ovulated since I've been off the pill (Since February) my dr. wants to start me on clomid right after my next period (who knows when that will be!?!?)
Have any of you taken it? What are your thoughts? Have you been successful with it? If so, how long after taking it? Side effects?

Thanks all for your feedback! Update: I'm on my 3rd day of Clomid... no rise in temperature yet, but I've noticed that my face is breaking out! (and I REALLY want sweets!)
Anyone else experience this???

Well I can't be much help because this is the first month I took Clomid. I had no side effects...I took it with breakfast. They say to take it around the same time daily. I went for blood work yesterday to see if it help me ovulate this month so I will be able to give you more info tomorrow.

I will be taking it when it comes for us to start trying. Basically you take it after you get your period. The days you have to 'do' it are the 9th, 11th and 13th and then you go and see the doctor to see if a baby was made.
What my doctor said was he is going to start me out with 25 milgrams and then if nothing happens you start going up 50 milgrams, etc...

My Dr gave me 50mg to start with...and he told me my fertile days could be days 13 thru 20...bascially he told me to have fun during those days...then on day 23, 24 or 25 of your cycle, your Dr might want you to come in for a blood test to see if your hormone levels are up..that's a sign of ovulation....(this is where I am now)

Thanks! Right after I posted that I actaully got AF (incidentally...what does that stand for? I'm going along with the board lingo )
My Dr. said to call as soon as I get it and she'll have me in to 'check my ovaries' and then put me on the meds...

A friend of mine was ovulating every other month and sometimes not at all so they put her on it...small dose at first, no results, increased a little...after 5 months on the increase she got pregnant and had a baby girl last thursday!

I used clomid last month...I felt fine. no cravings, no side effects at all. I went for my blood test last month and it showed I ovulated. So now I am just waiting impatiently. I am going to the Dr tomorrow so they can take blood to see if I am preggo or not. If I am not, then I am probably going to take Provera again and then clomid again.

Just came back from doctor and he gave me Clomid too. It turned out my hormones are all out of wack, and I didnt ovulate last month.
Do most insurance companies cover this??

I just finished my first month of Clomid and had no side affects at all. Everything is going well and I produced multiple eggs. Now I'm just waiting to ovulate so I can go in for the insemmenation.
My insurance company pays for everything.

I am on day 4 of Clomid. I don't check my temperature...I thought your temperature would rise when your ovulaing...now your not ovulating, you taking pills to make you ovulate...am I incorrect?

That's correct. Depending on how many days your cycle are, you'll be ovulating on day 14. I'm on a 30 day cycle so they are predicting me to ovulate day 16 or 17. So I'm waiting : ).

Hi girls... looks like I started an informative thread here!!
I had the WORST weekend last weekend (Memorial day). It was days 14-16 of my cycle after taking the clomid and my temp was still very low. Then I started reading articles on PCOS and was positive that I had it based on symptoms... I was crying all weekend.
I went to my dr. on Tuesday and told her about my weekend. She said that, first of all, when you are on Clomid you ovulate later than normal, so I should be expecting ovulation around June 5-7 (today!), and told me my most fertile days would be around the 3-5th. Sure enough, my temp has risen quite a bit over the past couple days and I've actually experienced a bit of pain in my abdomen.
She also told me I do have PCOS, but that's another story...
I just wanted to let you know that you may experience ovulation later than normal on Clomid.
