Well, after a million (I guess actually it's technically only about 6) months, we are finally set to close on our house on Friday. (Damn mortgage company seemed to sit on our paperwork for a month and a half before approving and sending it to SONYMA so the last couple of weeks has been a nightmare since we didn't know if we'd be able to close before our rate expires - on FRIDAY!!! Can ya tell I'm a little irritated?? ) Anyway, I have noticed a lot of you homeowners have mentioned a final walkthrough and I'm now wondering - do you always do this? And if so, when is it usually done? I'm a little worried since we're both working tomorrow and then we close on Fri. Of course NO ONE has mentioned a thing about this to us so I'm not sure if I should be worried. If anyone can give me any info about this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Usually you do the walkthrough the night before or the morning of. Call your real estate agent and ask when they want to schedule it for. Usually its just the agent and the parties not attorneys.

My closing is Friday at noon, and I'm doing the walk-through tomorrow night.

Just wanted to say congrats on your closing today!!
Of course this is probably too late, but just make sure everything is how it should be in the contract (clean, things in good working order, etc).
I hope it all goes smoothly and you & DH are happy in your new home!!

Congratulations!!! But I'm sorry to hear it has been very frustrating - we should also be closing sometime this month! So what town are you moving to?

Thanks everyone!! Well, we ended up being able to do a walkthrough this morning before the closing - not that it was all that useful since they aren't out yet. So, as far a clean, well, not too much yet. But we did try all the outlets and applainces and they all seemed ok. Nothing else looked to be a problem, but, I guess we'll see. They'll be all out by tomorrow - we'll go on Sunday to check it out. The closing went very well - and much quicker than I thought. I was suroprised it was the easiest part of this whole process. Thanks again for the info and well wishes, and good luck to everyone in the process. YEAH, we're homeowners!!
