Clueless about photographers

Hello LIwedding experts! My FH and I are going to speak with photographers/videographers for the first time tomorrow and I'm totally clueless! What should I expect/ask? Please help with any information - I greatly appreciate it!

ask them what their packages include...ask them if you can build your own packages to suit your needs...
ask them what they charge...ask them how many people come to a shoot...
and most importantly...ask them if their prices are negotiable!

They will probably ask you a few questions about the wedding plans you have - dates, locations, etc.

They will show you sample albums of the photographers and go over price plans.

When you are talking to them, you want to find out what you can expect the day of:

how long they stay with you?
how many photographers?
how many pictures/proofs can you expect?
how long it takes to get proofs, ty pics and ultimately albums?
what is the payment plan?
how long the quote is valid for?
You want to make sure you meet your photographer (and that they are named on the contract) and see their album of proofs.

Ask them to put the prices of enlargements
and costs for special features (b&w, hand coloring, touch ups & correction).
Do you get the negatives?
Ask to see the style of albums available.

You will want everything written in the contract. I also found that the more I spoke with people the more I learned to ask.

Divabride has a great fill in sheet that you can print out and bring with you... I did it for all the photographers we met with... maybe she could send it to you, if you FM her

Make sure you ask if they have a time limit.....I know that one photographer I saw had an 8 hour limit and then you had to pay extra! You will need more than 8 hours, so make sure you have them all day

Ask them if they shoot with film, who gets the negatives and when. This way you will always God forbid something should happen to your photos. Also, make sure you get all the proofs. Mine isn't charging for them.
