If you buy a coop, live in it for a few years & then want to rent it out, are you allowed to, or do the residents of the coop have to be the owners?

Re: Co-op Question?
every co-op is different- you need to ask them what their rules are.

Re: Co-op Question?
You'd have to check the co-ops rules, but for example, in mine there are only certain circumstances when you can sublet (ie you are going away, but coming back) and the subletters have to be approved by the co-op board.

I haven't even begun loooking yet - except online, but we were thinking about Bayside, Whitestone, Douglaston, Little Neck, Great Neck or Mineola, I really don't want to leave the Eastern Queens or Western Nassau area...

Re: Co-op Question?
i own an apt in Windsor Park - you have you live there three years before you can rent it out (which I did) and you need to get co-op approval. There are also fees associated with renting it - but it is still worth it.

Re: Co-op Question?
I am in Langdale Gardens in new Hyde Park and you can rent after a certain number of years...2 or 3.
