Co-op Question

Did anyone bid below asking price for their
co-op and it was accepted? Just curious....

We did. The asking price for our place was $179,000. We first bid $160,000 they came back with a counter offer of $165,000 and we excepted.

On most places, is it even worth it to offer the asking price? It would make sense to start lower and see if you could save some money and see if they acept or counter.

It is tricky because you have to figure out how much below you can start without the other party feeling that you are 'not a serious buyer'. It's all part of the bartering game.

We bid $15,000 below asking but they came back with a counter offer with full asking price. We agreed to pay full asking price only because we really loved the place.
