Hi all, I am an occassional poster who hasnt been on for a few months. Hoping someone has some info. that can lead me in the right direction.
DH and I recently purchased a co-op in Queens. We closed on August 4. In the last few weeks, we have been painting, etc... so now I get the building super to fix something for me in the bathroom and he tells me that our bathtub is old and the reason the couple before us was anxious to sell it was because of problems with leaks. Now, he says, we need to get a new bathtub and retile it, which is not on our agenda until next year, we just wanted him to re-caulk and re-tile a small area. Ok, to make a long story short, someone told me that if there was any problems that the sellers did not disclose, can they be held liable up to 30 or so days? I had an appraisal done which I reviewed with my attorney before signing the contract and nothing there mentioned any problem.
Has anyone ever experienced this and what was the end result?
TIA

Re: co-op seller's responsibilities?
You are most likely SOL cause once title changes hands... its now your responsibility.
Did you check with your attorney on this? What legal recource did he/she say you have?

Re: co-op seller's responsibilities?
Thanks for responding. I am going to contact him tomorrow after I review all of my paperwork from start to finish. My MIL asked if I got an engineer to look at the apt before we closed, but, I didnt even know we had to or could do this. I thought that was what the appraisal was. Oh well, thats the life of Real Estate.
