Co-Worker Guest List Issue

Co-Worker Guest List Issue

So.. in lieu of us talking about guest lists... let's dicuss the co-worker situation..

So here's my siuation.

As it stands now, I am inviting my 2 bosses and 6 assistants (all of whom I am very close with).

Now my dilemma... since all the cutbacks here I am have had to take on another president (pretty much answering her phone, running reports for her and such... pretty much acting as her assistant even though I don't get paid any extra... it b l o w s I know. I'm not even officially listed as her assistant in our system). So I've been her 'assistant' for about 6-7 months now. She's been very nice to me. She'll buy me lunch every now and then if when I go I pick her up something too. She even gave me a little something for Christmas last year as a thank you.

Now as far as the wedding, do you think I should be inviting her? I never thought about it until recently, but I feel that if I invite all these other people and don't invite her it might be a little weird. Honestly, even if invited I don't think she'd come, but what do you girls think? Should I add her to the list?

It's like the 'co-worker snowball effect', you invite one, you feel like you gotta invite the rest!

Don't send her a STD. Wait until you get a little closer to the date. By then they might've hired an assistant for her and then you're still stuck inviting her. My best advice is to wait it out.

FH is having some issues w/ this - he is a teacher, and his grade level is pretty big - so he isnt sure who to invite and not. Even his dad is having this issue w/ his co-workers.

But for your situation - I feel you have to invite the new president you are working with. You work so closely with her now - and by the time the wedding comes, you would have been working w/ her for even longer. Like you said - she may not come - but I think its good to extend the invite.

And if she's invited - she will give you a gift and that could kind of make up for you not getting paid more for doing extra work for her lol

yeah I definitely wasn't going to send her an STD. That's just like sealing the deal and then I'm stuck.

I know that her former assistant who had worked for her about 3 years invited her to the wedding after she was moved to a different department, and she didn't go to the wedding.

if I were you I would probably invite her to the wedding because you have been working with her for a while and you are kinda close to her bc of your job...
I also have an issue with co-workers being invited. I work with special needs children at their houses and I am close to a few families I eat dinner there go to the bday parties and stuff so I want to invite the parents of some families but not others bc I work with so many families I can not invite them all.

If I was in your situation I would invite her...especially since she is really nice to you. I wouldn't want her to feel left out considering all the other people who are invited.

I would not send a save the date. Wait and see. I am not sending save the dates to any coworkers except the 2 that i have known for over 10 years. As of right now they are the only ones invited b/c my list is already over 250 with out co workers!

I think that between now and 2011 the co-worker situation will change a lot. The economy still really isn't that good and companies have so much turnover. I may be naive, but I am going to try to put off worrying about this until about 6 months before.
