what is everyone doing about inviting people you work with?? Is it right just to invite my 2 bosses and not co-workers?? or to invite my 2 bosses and some but not all co-workers??

Re: Co-Worker Invites?
I'm inviting my boss and about 5 or 6 co-workers with guests. There's about 12 people in my dept alone and a bunch of others that i talk to... I went through a lot of stress deciding who to invite.
Just invite your bosses if that's who your comfortable with!

I don't even want to invite my boss. I may only be inviting one person from work. not sure.....so hard to decide.

Re: Co-Worker Invites?
I'm not inviting my boss from my day job because I'm not close with him. I'm inviting my boss from my teaching job at night because i'm closer and she's a female. I rather have her there than him. IT's a tough call though. I'm not having any co-workers because out wedding is going to be small.

It's a dilema for me. FH is close to his co-workers and they hang out - I never see my coworkers outside of work. So his are invited but not sure what to do about mine. There are 24 people in my department and no way I can invite all of them. But the decision is hard.

I'm inviting my bosses, the people from my department and just a couple of people I'm friends with from different departments. If I started inviting everyone where I work, it would double my guest list!

I'm only inviting the ones that I hang out and feel close to. I'm not inviting my boss. I'm inviting 4 coworkers with their guests. One of my coworkers is actually getting married in July and I'm not invited. He started working there about six months ago so that's understandable. I guess he's making things easier for me.

I was stressing about this too...I decided to invite my boss, my supervisor and about 3 or 4 coworkers. I wish that I could invite everyone, especially everyone from my department but there are so many people in my department. If anybody says anything, I am going to tell them that I would love to invite everyone but we are keeping it small (which is the truth LOL)

Here's something that may help you decide.
A friend of mine had been invited with her husband to her husband's secretary's wedding.
Before the wedding the secretary left the employ of my friends husband (not fired, just quit).
So she and her husband were consequently UN-INVITED.
Now, while I find this extremely TACKY, it did help me in my decision making process.
If I was to leave my job tomorrow, (or anytime between now and my wedding date) I would not want anyone I work with at my wedding. Period the end.
And that's how I decided not to invite anyone from work--bosses included.

Me too. I think the best thing for me to do is not invite anyone from work period... this way nobody gets offended. I work for a small dept. which means if I invite one, I would need to invite all. I am not sure how much longer I will be in this dept. anyway.

Re: Co-Worker Invites?
May I ask is it a courtesy thing that you 'have' to invite your boss? I didn't plan to, but then he's been talking about it like he thinks he's invited. I'm not sure what to do, because honestly I don't really want to invite him. But now it's gotten to a point where I would have to invite him or tell him 'I'm sorry, but it's a small wedding and we really have no choice but to cut the guest list.'
I'm not sure what to do...I've seen so many people who just assumes they're invited, but really I have no intentions to invite them.
help!!

Re: Co-Worker Invites?
I am inviting all the people in my office. I have worked here for 5 years so it seems natural. But there are only 7 couples and 2 wont come so its not so bad.

Re: Co-Worker Invites?
I am inviting my whole dept which is 6 guys and their signigicant others (this includes my boss) I am positive that not all of them will come. I am also inviting one guy that is not in my dept, but I sit next to him and he asks about the wedding on a regular basis so I cant leave him out.
The thing that scares me about inviting co-workers is this: I am in sales and people get fired here all the time if they dont meet their numbers. In fact, one was just fired on Friday. He was on my guestlist and obviously now hes not. What happens if one of them gets fired from the time I send out the invites until the wedding??? I guess thats just a waste of an invite cause no matter how close I am with the person, they are not going to come to the wedding and sit with my boss who just fired them!
