Coats and carseats

Coats and carseats

Okay, first of all, Lyla HATES getting any winter gear put on her (hat and coat)! She always hated being strapped in the car seat too, so now we have double trouble trying to get her in the infant car seat with a bulky coat on. I didn't buy the Bundle me thing because she will be out of the infant carseat soon.

If it weren't for the coat, she'd be able to fit in the carseat for at least another month, but now I can't even put the buckles on with her coat that is size 9-12 months. So, I think we're going to have to move to the Britax sooner than we thought. So, no more snap-n-go stroller either.

I'm not sure what my question is, but this whole thing is giving me stress!! I don't know why??!! I guess I'm dreading the whole winter/bundle her up/getting her out of the house.

Niha, I hear you! Winter is sooo NOT fun with a child! But, you'll get through it...don't worry.
To reduce the bulkiness of what she's wearing, can you use a fleece pram, instead of a jacket/snowsuit?

Also, do not move her to the bigger seat too soon - unless it's able to be installed safely in the rear-facing position.

I had this for Luke

It goes over the whole carseat. I just put a blanket underneath for extra warmth and a hat on his head and he was set. I highly recommend it, it's only $20 and it was wonderful. I dont think we would have had it very easy if we were trying to do the bulky jacket/infant seat either.

Eddie Bauer Has a thing that goes around the infant carrier and it was great! We used that and a blanket. The best part was that it had a flap, so when yuo left the car to run into the grocery store or in and out of the car, you just flip it down and run in.. Alex thought we were playing peekaboo! Its available at Babies-r-us and its only $20!

I second what the girls are saying. I hear these little snow sacks are the greatest way to go - there are a variety of styles and prices at BabiesRUs. i registered for something called a Nano Bag. I loved the Eddie Bauer one too but it's out of stock.....

Good luck to you! Guess the little one prefers the Summer! Smart girl!!!!

Re: Coats and carseats

We discussed these blanket things (BUNDLE ME brand) in a thread before. They seem great for the car, but how do you get them TO and FROM the car if you are not always using the infant carrier?

I dont' know if this is the case for most moms with infants, but since Lyla hardly sleeps in the car, and is usually screaming her head off when I get somewhere, I just take her out. I very rarely bring the carseat in the house. I do use it with the snap and go when shopping still.
