Cocktail hour and Dinner Music

What types of music are you playing during your cocktail hour and dinner? Im having my DJ do cocktail hour and not sure of what genre to have them play.

mine didnt ask what type, it was more of do you want us to plauy music or no?- they have some soft music they played
and it worked for us

I haven't figured out CH yet, but we hired a singer to sing during the dinner courses. so wheen the courses are being served, the DJ music will stop and the singer will perform. I am using LI Sound for DJ and they suggested this kind of arrangement and we hired hte singer through them.

I'm having a guy playing the guitar :) He's also playing at our engagement party.. he's awesome!

We had Jazz at our CH and we did R&B at dinner. I am a big R&B person so that was no question.

I'm debating on either jazz or classical. I'm a musician, so I'll probably pick a lot of the music that's played, but I think I'm leaning towards classical. My DJ is the best and will do anything! (almost anything lol)

We are doing our own cocktail hour music with our iPod and playing songs by the Vitamin String Quartet. They do instrumental versions of popular rock songs. We like that they are popular songs but instrumental. For our dessert hour, we are doing jazz folks like Michael Buble, Sinatra, etc.

I agree with others that it depends on if you want music or instrumental. We personally don't like classical music but if that is your taste, it is very pretty for cocktail hour.
