So ... whats your take on cocktail hour music? Is it worth the additional money to get something live (we're having a DJ for the reception) or what???

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
i think it depends on the cost, but generally i don't think it's worth it. i think if you can afford it, then go for it ... but if not, then the DJ is fine

I don't really care for it one way or the other..I've been to wedding with and without..I'm usually talking and eating to notice and if the person was loud it would annoy me

We thought it was worth it, especially since ours is 90 minutes. We're also having a DJ, but the CH band is great

We are having a pianist come and play, because there is a grand piano in the middle of the room that rotates! So I think it's worth it!

my DJ threw it in...
But if he hadn't.. I dont think I'd have done live, especially with trying to keep my budget down!

For us it is totally worth it. We have a steel drum band. We're crashing the CH so we can start the party right. People will be dacing @ CH. We Love this idea!

I think it's worth it too. If we were having a DJ I definitely would have opted for live music in the CH.
We're having a band and they threw in classical guitar during the CH.

We are having an acapella group perform at the ceremony and lead guest into CH where they will perform some more!!!!!! We totally thought it was worth it, as we feel it will give the wedding a wow factor!!!!!!

We have the same, except it doesn't rotate. Hired Marie Stack.

We're doing it, mostly because we are having our ceremony at our RH and hired a musician. I figured why not just keep him the extra hour for cocktail too. I think it makes a nice addition.

Us too! I think I'm more excited for the steel drum band than the dj!

Re: Cocktail Hour Music
Its just another 1k so its a lot to swallow to be honest! Plus tips ... but we havent ruled it out. I just wonder how much people will pay attention to it. I havent been to a wedding yet that had it. We are meeting with another DJ tomorrow but the prices are SO varied! We go as low as $1840 to $3500!
