I want some live music for the cocktail hour... I don't care if it's just one instrument (a sax player, a piano, etc) but I'd prefer a 3 piece. Can anyone recommend someone affordable?
Also, what should I expect to spend for something like this (If I want to stay in the lower end price range)??

Re: Cocktail hour musicians??
We have hired a saxaphone player....I wanted piano, but he wanted the sax, so he got the sax. We are having a percussionist (spell?) to go along w/ our DJ....
We can't do both a DJ & a band, so a little live something is nice I think!
For my brothers wedding during the cocktail hour I hired, as a surprise, a magician..it was GREAT!!!

Re: Cocktail hour musicians??
I have some people on my budget vendor page, but I think you've seen that already. For everyone else:
I really like my jazz trio, National Boulevard - I got them to play 2 hours for $300. They can't be more than $400 now.

Re: Cocktail hour musicians??
I am having a solo guitarist for my cocktail hour -- he plays Spanish Classical, Samba, Latin types, but can also play classical. He will accompany my soloist for the ceremony as well. He is charging me $400 for 2 hours performance - and trekking from Brooklyn out to Peconic on a Sunday night!
