has anyone been to a wedding where there was not enough seating for all of the guests at cocktail hour? i'm not talking a MAJOR deficiency.. say, ~150 seats for ~200 people. at the RH's you all have booked, is there enough cocktail hour seating for EVERY guest?
if you can't guess, the place i'm looking at doesn't have enough seating for everyone. they throw events with a guestlist twice my size regularly, so it CAN'T be a huge problem.. right?? it's still making me nervous.

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
i wouldn't worry.. a lot of people like to stand and chat or mingle... i think it is rare that everyone wants to be seated at the same time during cocktail hour... i wouldn't let this deter you from booking a RH that you love

My place has seating for all of the guests. That was one of the things I really liked about Cresthollow./

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
I recently was at a wedding where there were 5 tiny cocktail tables for like 175 people. It annoyed me because having a drink in one hand, food in the other, a purse in my armpit and high heels on, all I wanted to do was sit

I agree that most people will stand and talk to each other. Of course it's nice to have somewhere to sit, my experience is that most people float around...

I usually stand so it would not bother me. And I think I am doing a little less chairs in CH then the amount of guest coming..I just like ti to be more of a mingling time!

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
it annoys me when I want to eat b/c i'm usually holding a drink and a plate but i manage - and it's only for a short period of time that i'm munching so it's not that big of a deal for me

That was one of the things I looked at when we went to RHs. I hate when there is no place to sit or at least put your dish & drink down. I made sure there would be enough for everybody before I booked,

I was worried about that but there was pretty much nobody sitting at our cocktail hour expect for the older people.

I was guarenteed that everyone will be able to sit. Great thing about my RH is that the CH room was once a resturant.

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
This was a BIG deal for my FH and I. Its just a little thing that gets on our nerves at other weddings we have been to. I know girgios has 1 1/2 the seating for their weddings. At my RH we also have well over the amount needed for our guest list. You need more than the exact amount of guests bc many times you put your purse on a seat or 3 ppl sit together at a table for 4--- and no one loner is going to sit in the reamining seat.

i never want to sit at cocktail hour so it wouldn't bother me if there was enough chairs for everyone to sit. i think that there should be enough so your older crowd will have a place to sit but younger people like to stand and mingle....or at least i do. i guess it depends on your preference

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
i am feeling a lot better now... thanks all. i didn't realize so many people liked walking around at cocktail hour haha... i guess the last wedding i was at, there were like, 10 tables for ~350 people, and that was REALLY frustrating.. maybe it scarred me!!

i think tables/places to rest a plate on are more important than seating

Re: cocktail hour - not enough seating??
My cocktail hour is enought seating for everyitng :) but i dont think that its a HUGE deal because people walk around, talk and mingle :) im sure you are having stations around the room right? people will mingle and eat by the stations?
are you having an indoor and outdoor cocktail hour or just indoor? if both, more of a non worry because you have more space to mingle in :)
