Cocktail Hour Start Time

Hi Girls! I also posted this on BHB but I just have a question for you...FH and I have looked at a bunch of places. We are seriously considering Chateau Briand however we were told that we would have to have our CH start at 8:30pm. I am a little worried that it is too late however it is a Friday. It is just that if the CH is from 8:30-9:30 then the reception is from 9:30-1:30 people won't be eating until soooo late and it is just very late for people. What do you think is 8:30 to late?

Personally, I wouldn't. This is one of the 3 big reasons FH and I didn't book Westbury Manor. Since our party was smaller for a Sat night and we would have had the smaller of the 2 large rooms, our CH would have had a set time of 7 or 7:30, Id on't remember.. and we wanted Viennese which was psuhing our party WAY too late, espcially since church was going to be around 3, so we decided against it.

I loved the place though and still wish it would have worked out for us. FH, however, ishappy as a pig in sh*t, so that's ok with me, lol.

it's got it's plus side to starting late, it's a Friday which means that people getting out of work would be able to make it on time without taking the entire day off of work.

For us though we didn't want to start so late, we wanted a no later that 7pm start. Btw we love CB they were our second choice. I loved the outdoors area.

Sorry, I don't if I answer your question.

Personally, I think it maybe a little to late to start.

FH and I went to a wedding a few years ago, and they had a CH start time of 9-10, and the reception was 10-2. For the CH, they had it in such a small little room, that it was nearly impossible to get something to eat. Thank god we ended up eating beforehand, because we were STARVING by the time dinner came out at 12. The guests started leaving right after dinner, and besides the bridal party, we were the last non-family members there to see their last dance. I felt so bad for them considering all the time/money spent putting into their wedding. I wouldn't want the same thing to happen to you (not that I'm saying your guests are like that).

I'm surprised - ours is on a Sat. with a CH at 7:30. We were told that was the last slot

That aside, we have been to a wedding that the CH started at 8:30. Dinner didn't get served until around midnight. A bunch of people left early, and I have to say it was a bit late for my tastes, but those who stayed seemed to still have a blast and be partying til the cows came home (and then partied with the cows).

I think it'll work great for younger people who are coming home from work and able to have time to get ready before the party. I don't think older folks would be too keen on the late dinner and late night, unless they are directly related to you
