I am having such a hard time figuring out which I want! Getting married October 1, 2010 - at Atlantica so pictures on the beach...(hopefully!) Need your help!

for beachy weddings I would choose cocktail length.
The length of the dress has a lot to do with the overall type of wedding you are having.
Edit to add that they don't necessarily have to be that way... but that's usually how you pick them. You could def have a beachy wedding with a long dress... but make sure it's airy enough and is a fabic that would hold up in beach weather.

This is a hard decision for me too. i was initially thinking cocktail or tea length for my June wedding but now I'm thinking long would be more appropriate for a formal wedding? I won't know until i see what looks good on my BMs.
Even though you are getting married on a beach I thing long would be better cause it's in October...BUT you should definitely try to find something more flowy in like a chiffon material...
And as for colors..you have to start with what you want your color scheme to be for your wedding. Haven't picked one yet? Just think about your favorite color or which stands out to you, or which you envision when you think about your wedding.

I had a hard time picking between the two as well. I decided on long bc I feel it is more formal and will give more of a uniformed look. But bc the grass is always greener on the other side, I am having such a hard time finding a good long one but see soo many cute short ones
ETA: When i was deciding one of my BMs told me to think about what I wanted the pictures to look like - I googled to find pics

Why choose? You can do both and it will look good. Maybe just get a lighter fabric if you want to achieve a beach feel. I couldn't choose either and decided that my BM's will be wearing a mix of tea length and long dresses.

For a beachy wedding I would be more inclined to do cocktail length...but if you did want long you could do a lighter, flowy material and that would look great.

I think cocktail/Tea length dress for a beachy wedding. And for color you can have a lot of fun with colors- Maybe like a burnt orange or moss green color.

I was just in a bridal party at the Atlantica over the summer. We wore long chiffon dresses by Alvina Valenta. They were really pretty dresses, I think the sample is in pink at Bridal Reflections , the only problem with it was that it was strapless so for thosewith bigger chests it was a bit tough, but overall a beautiful dress for the beach and very flowy.. we wore it in a sage green and the guys wore linen suits. I am having a daytime wedding in July so I am going with tea length dresses. I think it will be a really nice look for the summer, plus I think the girls will be more comfortable if it's a hot day.
