My fiance's aunt gave us the best suggestion: a total cocktail hour reception.
We didn't want a sit down dinner and the whole buffet thing ('ok: everybody stop what you're doing and get on line for food!') seems annoying. So we decided that a total party atmosphere sounds great - non-stop food, the only difference being that in the last two hours, the food will switch to desserts.
Do you do assigned seating with events done this way?
Anyone know of any locations that will do this for us? Is it much different from a regular buffet?

Re: Cocktail party receptions
I had that style at the Bourne and it was so much fun, no stopping for dinner, people just partied all night and ate when they wanted...

Most places will do it. We looked into it and found that at some halls it was more $$ than having a sit down dinner.

The total cocktail party was my original plan also until I found out how much more money it was! Then I got this great wedding package from Ariana and I snatched it!
