Hello Ladies. Another question for you. We're looking into options to keep the cost down as well as doing something a little different. Anyone doing a cocktail reception or been to a wedding that they did that???

Re: Cocktail reception
I was looking into this too and honestly it came out to almost the same price as having a full reception....Just look into more affordable RH's and shoot for off season and be open to saturday or sunday afternoons or even a thursday night. This will dramatically reduce your price.
The lowest quotes I recieved when looking
Coral House Milleridge Carriage House Leonard's of Great Neck

Re: Cocktail reception
believe it or not some RH's charge more for this.
ALSO be VERY careful what type of Rh you do a cocktail reception at. While everyone will think of a long island place with HUGE cocktail hours, some places do not consider that when doing a cocktail reception.
I went to a cocktail reception in the city and let me say its not like you walk into a big room filled with food the way it is at CH's at big catering halls. It was just passed hors dourves, and i didnt even get to eat one thing bc they never walked by me with trays of food and i was close to the kitchen door lol. Only 1 time did i see a tray and it was finished before they even got to me so i didnt get to eat a thing. So letting you know in case you try to find a place that typically does this.
A typical rh in LI will either charge the same amount for a cocktail reception and some girls on LIW who looked into this said it was actually coming out to more money
