same happened with me, but we got burgers after instead lol
i think ppl think of Cocktail hour the way it is at big reception halls but its not like that at all. It was just passed hors dourves which i wasnt able to get one of, so yeah we all kept drinking too without eating.
and if you do cocktail only reception at a regular type catering hall, believe it or not they sometimes charge more to do this than a regular 1 hr ch and sit down dinner

Re: Cocktail Reception
I was in a wedding party in Nov. that had this. It seemed like a good idea but dindt work out well. People were hungry, dj had very difficult time knowing when to play music, and there was barely anyone on dance floor at the same time. Hope that helps just trying to be honest and IMO.

I appreciate your honesty but I wonder if you added more food to the cocktail hour if that would be different...pasta stations, meat stations, a boat ect and all the passed stuff,,,what do you think?

Re: Cocktail Reception
Maybe it would be different if you didn't have everything passed around because i personally hate when it is because you never get anything that is ever passed

there were stations later on. There was passed hors dourves for first hour or so and according to the places menu there were a decent amount but honestly i didnt see half the stuff they have listed on the menu and i was standing close to the kitchen door lol so i dont know what happened to everything. By the time they would even get near me with a tray the food was gone, so i didnt eat one thing from the hors dourves, neither did dh and people we were with.
There were stations later on that evening, i would say 3 hours later or so. But even then it wasnt alot and the problem was that once it came out a huge line formed since it was all on one table. I was all the way in the back and by the time i got up most of the shrimp were gone and bc of that i only took like 2 or 3 bc i felt bad since there were others behind me and probably like 10 shrimp left, plus they were cold. There was paella which was good and then 2 other small things. Problem was that they also only had the small plates that they have at CH so you can only put a little at a time on there, after not eating anything all day long, having a small plate of paella didnt do much. Also there were pregnant women so they couldnt eat the paella or shrimp or there was sushi on another table which i didnt even see at all bc it was on the other side, somebody told me later. The only things were these mini quiche type things they were able to have. By the time i was done the food was gone i think. It depends on where you do it of course, if its a city type modern place then it will be like this. If its a li catering hall type place they will have alot of food but then they will charge more for ch reception
