Has anyone ever had a cocktail or mansion style reception (no formal dinner, stations only)? How did/will you set up tables? Also, how did/will you have your flowers/centerpieces?

Re: Cocktail Style Reception
we were planning on having one for our wedding, they were going to set up the stations in one room and guests would be seated in the ballroom, so there was no different set up...guests would get their food and walk over to the ballroom and eat there. I hope that made sense

I love this idea. I wanted to do it, but with our huge family, it just would not have worked. I'm sure it will be beautiful!! besides. CH is the best part.

Re: Cocktail Style Reception
My FH's aunt had a Cocktail Engagement party. It wasn't my cup of tea. It was like, 'ok now what?' After cocktail hour you usually have dinner then dance then dessert then dance. It became boring for us after a while. But thats just me!

Re: Cocktail Style Reception
This is originally what we wanted to do, but my father pointed something out.
With 200+ people, chances are, something is going to get spilled on someone's dress. And you also don't want to take chances on people tripping and falling. And then what about lines?
So after those comments, we decided to go with a traditional sit-down dinner.
