Coindre hall

Coindre hall

Any thoughts? Has anyone ever been to a wedding there? I know it is beautiful-but any pictures I have seen-it seems like a weird set-up. We are having about 180 people (inviting 220). Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA.

Also Douglaston manor-any thoughts? I know they renovated it. But has anyone been to a wedding there recently? Does anyone have any pics of either of these places? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Coindre hall

I visited all the mansions when I was looking for a reception hall. Coindre was my least favorite. The dance floor is in a different room than dinner is served. While this is good for talking because the music won't be so loud, it's lousy for people who like to watch the dancing but don't dance themselves.

The other problem I had with it was the bathroom. There is ONE single stall for the ladies, and if there is a wait, the line will be outside the door spilling into the reception area.

Thank you. That sounds very inconvenient for our guests-and helps us cross one off the list.

I looked at Coindre hall and there were a couple of reasons we didn't pick it-
First, dinner was in a different room than dancing- i just didn't like that idea.

Second, if you do the ceremony outside, it is right smack in front of the building next to the driveway. So, if anyone shows up late their are driving in while you are walking down the aisle.

Third.... and maybe this is just me being picky, but one of the cocktail hour rooms had hideous pink walls and i think a pink carpet too.

I have never even heard of Douglaston Manor- you might want to look at the Bourne Mansion, i know they can fit parties of your size.

Re: Coindre hall

we're getting married at coindre hall. fh and i absolutely love it there and the set-up of it. but i guess it all depends on what you are looking for. neither one of us likes the typicial wedding format where you eat a course, then dance, eat a course, then dance. we want our format to consist of a dinner and then a party. so, for us, the set-up is perfect. we'll have the ceremony in one room. cocktail hour in the main part of the house & another room. dinner will be in the piazza. then, after dinner dancing will be in th main ballroom. we also liked that there was a sitting room across from the dancefloor so that the older folks can go sit on a comfy chair away from all the noise/action, yet still see what's going on. but, that's just us.

oh, just to clarify on the bathroom situation, there are additional bathrooms upstairs with stalls.
