Ughhh. Sorry. Is it on the outside or inside? Or on your lips? Did you try vaseline? Make sure it's ALWAYS on - reapply every 1/2 hour or so.

Re: Cold sore!

Buy the vitamin supplement LYSINE... few bucks in the vitamin aisle of any drug store or grocery store.

When I either see one coming or already have one, I take 2 in the AM and 2 in the PM (which is more than it says to take on the label)... either stops it in it's tracks or cuts down healing time. once I see it's going away, I cut down to 2 in AM... then 1 in AM... then I stop taking ( I usually only end up taking it for a few days)

edit: I forgot to add that I usually dab it a few times a day with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip... don't know if that helps, but makes me feel like its drying out and not spreading

Works for me.

Yikes! I've tried all of the above products and none work for me. When I get a cold sore, it is so stubborn. The best thing is to go to your doctor and get a prescription for DENAVIR! I promise you, best thing ever....if you cant' get that, Zovirax is second best. Good Luck.

I don't get cold sores but I ALWAYS get canker sores. Definitely get Lysine (I think it works for both). Take at least 1000 mg a day. Also for my canker sores I eat lots of yogurt and apply wet tea bags...but I don't know if that'll help with cold sores. I did hear you should stay out of the sun when you have one...which I don't think will be too hard thanks to Hanna!

My doc actually gave me an Rx for Valtrex (oral) - you take 4 of them at the first tingles of a cold sore and it stops it from coming out! My dermatologist doesn't recommend the Zovirax ointment at all, actually, but he says to use Abreva while taking the Valtrex. Good luck!
