uggh I just got a cold sore.. so gross I know! I take Lysine everyday and usually double up when I feel one coming on. I guess I didn't act quick enough though and I woke up with a full blown cold sore. I put tea tree oil and peroxide on last night but I guess it didn't help. I just ran out and got some abreva. I have been so stressed and was feeling run down from being sick and dealing with my grandma being ill. Anyway I am sooooo nervous now about getting a cold sore on my wedding day! Should I ask my dr for something as a precautionary measure?

Cold Sore
I feel you girl!! I have one right now. I've been taking lysine every day also and it's definitely helped. Most of the ones I get now are small or don't ever 'erupt' (ew.) definitely talk to your doctor about valtrex or something similar. Especially for the two weeks leading up to your wedding. That's my plan. I CANNOT HAVE A GIANT COLD SORE ON MY WEDDING DAY!!
Tea tree oil and ice have worked decently well for me when I do get one to keep them under control lol

Re: Cold Sore
Thank you! I have a Dr. appt in July so I will def ask about that! That is probably a good idea! I tend to get them when I am stressed and I know I will be so stressed around that time! I put abreva on about 10 times already this morning and it seems to be helping. It's just so annoying!! I feel like I have to hide in my office and not talk to anyone. I didn't even kiss the FH this morning and then had to tell him why so embarassing! He never gets them which is odd.
I forgot about the ice I have done that before and it has helped. I will do that tonight for sure. Thanks!!

Get 1000grams of Valtrex prescribed to you. Take one as soon as you feel the tingling and take another later in the day, and maybe 2 more each day over the next two days and it'll be gone! Valtrex is such a life saver.

Definitely ask your doctor for Valtrex. I went a month before my wedding and she prescribed it to me. I took it everyday for a week leading up to the wedding and no cold sore!
Good luck!

Do you get lysine over the counter or from a doctor? I don't get them as much as I used to but this is a fear of mine. I don't know if I should rock the boat and take something or not lol

OTC.. I actually buy the CVS brand in the big bottle. They're huge pills but I'd do anything to avoid them lol. I usually buy whatever brand is cheapest or on sale as long as theyre the same mg I've been taking (1000)

I usually do the store brand too but I buy the 500 mg and take a few times a day. The 1000mg pills are huge and I find them hard to take. Walgreens is having buy 1 get 1 free right now ;)

Try a good probiotic. I can recommend one if you need. Cold sores are a sign of poor immune health (and of course the herpes virus)
