Colic?

Well I'm pretty sure Damien is colicky. He seems to cry a lot!!!!! In the beginning he didn't but from what I've read it starts at about 3 weeks. I have been giving him mylicon drops and that seems to help. Anyone have any other suggestions? My Mom said I was a colicky baby too, it figures

My gf went through this with her son recently. He cried ALL the time

She tried something called gripe water and she said that helped a lot.

First, let me send you some sympthony colic is NOT easy to deal with. Although I read in a few books that the term Colic is throw around a lot, when in fact not many babies actually suffer from it.

Are you bfing or formula feeding? I think that there are a lot of different formulas that can help with thoses problems. My friend used to strain fennel, the 'spice/herb' into her baby's formula and that helped her a lot with it.

Re: Colic?

I'm BF. He gets very upset and his stomach gets really hard. My mother was the one who said it might be colic. I feel bad for him, but sometimes the only way I can get him to stop is to nurse him, but since he is not hungry he puts my nipple in and out of his mouth, sucks on it and pulls his head bck like it's taffy, and holy moly ouch is all I can say. We got the mylicon drops yesterday and they seem to be helping. I don't give him a bottle at all, just the breast, and don't plan on giving a bottle until he is a little older. Thanks Ladies

Re: Colic?

The pulling off and on the breast can be due to many reasons. But, I think the hard stomach does mean gas pain. Lyla was fussing at the breast and it was a combo of forceful let-down and gas. I would have to try to burp her every minute or so.

It's good that you're bfding, I think formula would make it worse at this point.

Are you sure it's colic? Is he crying for hours at a time?

Lyla cries a lot too, but not for hours at a time. And, the only thing that calms her is nursing (until of course she started fussing while nursing too).

Here's a link to reasons why he might be fussing at the breast:

Re: Colic?

I know my MOH daughter was the definititon of a colic nightmare. I know one thing she used to do was to hold her like a rag doll so that my friends arm was on her daughters stomach. It was something about the pressure that helped a little. When I talk to her again I will ask her for any other suggestions.

Hang in their Stacey!

Thanks Melissa that is not something I want to happen. But so far no constipation he's still pooping up a storm
