I have to get one tomorrow because I have really bad stomach aches all of the time. I really dont want to deal with this. Today I can only eat cereal and tomorrow I cant eat before the procedure. And I have to take this gross fluid. YUCK!
Anyone else have this done? Should I be worried about the anesthesia?

I've had several...it's no fun but the prep is worse than the procedure. The procedure you are asleep for and you wake up thinking you didn't even have it done yet.
You'll be fine...it will be over soon.

My Dad had one on Monday, and my Mom's had a few. They both agree that the prep is much worse than the procedure.
That liquid is gross though, I feel your pain!

I've had it done before. The preparation is the worst but the procedure itself is fine. Hold your nose when drinking the liquid, it can be quite nasty. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Look at it this way, now they'll be able to find out what's wrong with your belly!

I heard the prep is bad. I also heard of drinkling the stuff and then taking a fast drink of ice tea. It is a clear liquid...... I am going to have to start taking this test in a few years. My family has a history of colon problems. Good luck on the test and the prep.

I was supposed to get this done because I was having problems but had a Gastroscopy (tube down your throat) and never had the colonoscopy. I have heard that the liquid is NASTY and you have to drink so much of it. I have also heard the prep is much much worse than the actually procedure.
I was also nervous about being sedated but I never even new I was when I got my procedure done. When I woke up I thought they didn't even start.
You'll be fine it, it will over before you know it.

Yeah... the prep was the worst!!!!! But the sleep you get when you are under.... nothing like it. Wish I had that in my bedroom. I never sleep a full night!

prep was about 20 mins or so... DW lasted 20 minutes from when she was knocked out. it can take longer depending whats going on from what DR. was telling me.
couple of hours from what i witness but its suggest and told that you don't operate equimpent (cars/household applicances)
DW was home that day and the next day (she was sore a little bit)...

In and out in about 1.5 hrs total. I was out of it for about 45 minutes after the procedure and then DH took me home. I was awake for a while when I was home then took a cat nap. By the evening I was fine and even drove my car for a short trip later that night.-shhhh DH doesn't know.
I went to work the next day.

YEay I am home but very sleepy.... Turns out I just have IBS... I will be okay. It happened so fast... I could have sworn that I woke up during it but they said no... I didnt...that was really weird! I thought it would be more painful... I just woke up with mega bubbles...I am good now... I am going to sleep!

Happy snoozing...glad it worked out. IBS sux though..but at least it wasn't something worse.
