Girls ... I'm having the hardest time with my choice of color. I dont know what im going to do
The color we originally chose was Aqua because my FH loves blue and he refused to wear pink! We went with aqua because its a nice spring color and would go nice with our May Wedding ... i also loved the tiffany inspired theme. Ever since we chose the color, matching things have been a complete nightmare! We've been thru so many dresses my girls are just exhausted ... dresses dont match invites, invites dont match sashes everything is just a mess. Every designer has a different shade and a different name to the color!
Also, to me the aqua is such a daytime wedding/outdoor ceremony color ... My reception starts at 8:30PM ... I dont even know if I'll get daylight pics!
At this point I dont know if I should just completely change the whole color and start over again ... what to do girls??? Sorry for the long vent .... I just don't know what to do

Awww Im sorry is there any other shade of blue that you like? maybe something a bit darker? Have you already bought things to match the aqua?

Re: Color Disaster
I have bought a few things and put together a few things that I would need to change ribbons on but nothing too major ... I think!
I think if I had to chose another shade it would be royal cuz navy is too dark for my liking in May ...I just need a color easy to match! Pink would be so much easier! Ughhhh

If it helps, I dont think the invites really have to match the dresses...I mean, you want to convey your general theme but noone is going to hold them up to the dresses.
And aqua is a gorgeous wedding color and I think it will work for an evening wedding. Maybe you can add in some blacks or even a rich purple to make it feel a little less daytime. HTH, its going to beautiful!

Pink would be easy but maybe go a shade darker like royal blue?

Re: Color Disaster
We are doing shades of blush, mauve and dusty rose and let me tell you there are TONS of shades that fall into this scheme.
It's really hard to match - so to help keep me on track and I went to Home Depot and picked paint swatches (they are free). I picked like 4 or 5 of them and brought them EVERYWHERE!!!! BM dress shopping, invites, used it for our name plaque and even the florist - and it really helped keep everything together.

Black and silver (or any color in that family of slate/gunmetal) are neutrals that complement Aqua nicely. Aside from Aqua you need to have another color(s) to pair it with. If you stay with the neautrals the Aqua will really pop. And then you won't need an Aqua dress! Use it t accent everything! (thnk black dress and Aqua shoes!). And you invite could be neautral with just your names in Aqua. Just some thoughts
Or you can do other vibrant colors with it as well!
Originally I was planning on booking a RH on the water and doing a more water and beach theme with the light aqua blue color and that orangey red color. I have a picture at hope and was inspired by the combo! But I fell in love with a different type of venue and changed everything Good luck!

Don't change your color girl. you can pick an accent color. We can go look at things if you like. Or I can put some colors together for you. Email me the dresses. Don't be sad. Everything will work out.

Re: Color Disaster
We're doing aqua/teal & yellow with pops of pink and our reception is in the evening. Your colors dont have to be an exact match just stick within the shade of the color. You can look at my albums to see what Im talking about.
If you already got things dont change the color, like someone said just pick an accent color. Im sure you will make it work & it will look fab.

Re: Color Disaster
don't even worry about the invited matching....im doing black and dark red, and dark reds come in a million tones as well.
As long as they are overall similar...it will be fine. I think that the most important thing is to match things that are together...like the tablecloth and chair sash as an example.
It will work out! Print out a color swatch and bring it with you whenever selecting colors, and I would say if something isn't exactly the same, its better that they are purposely different instead of forcing it to be the smae when its not.
HTH!

Re: Color Disaster
I agree.don't worry about the invitations matching. no one will remember but you.
i love aqua. i also think it will work fine considering the men will be in dark suits or tuxes and just the vests etc matching.

Re: Color Disaster
I'm using pink.. Mostly hot pink.. And my FH isn't wearing any pink at all.. He'll have a black suit and white shirt and vest etc. So maybe pitch it to your FH that way???

My FH does not like pink at all either! I agree with the other girls, it doesn't have to match exactly but I love the paint swatch idea!

Re: Color Disaster
you don't have to match everything exactly - if you both like Aqua, stick with it, but don't go crazy trying to find the exact saem shade of Aqua for your dresses and the invites and flowers and sahses and a dozen other things! also, try complimenting colors instead of making everything monochromatic. so do Squa and a pale yellow or ivory or Aqua with a light pink - the possibilities are endless and no one is going to bring the invite to the wedding and start criticising how the colors don't match

Re: Color Disaster
why not have the tiffany blue and pale pink for the wedding? so the guys can wear the tiffany blue and others things can be pink. I know u said it is a daytime color but I believe it is ok, it is spring!

Alot of ppl do the tiffany inspired color/theme. I think that you can get away with not matching things exactly. You will be fine. That theme is beautiful!!

Exactly what I was going to say!!!
I have hot pink as an accent color....invites, shoes, flowers are cocktail hour, signature drink....and NONE of the pinks are matching. They're close enough, and NO ONE will notice.

Re: Color Disaster
pink and Aqua looks awsome together . the guys can match in the aqua. girls can have Aqua dresses with pink sashes.
No one is going to hold up you invitations to the girls dresses. it doesnt have to match exactly . different textures and materials are going to even make the same exact color look a little differnt.

Why can't you do pink?!
Isn't FH going to have a white vest on, not pink?

Agreed. The pink on my invitations is slightly different than the pink of my bridesmaids dresses. It will also be a different shade of pink than my flowers, than the ribbons I use, etc. I don't think it all needs to match exactly, as long as it is in comparable color families.
If one of my guests brought my invitation to the wedding and made a comment that my dress shade and invite shade were a bit off, I think I'd throw them out.
Oh, edited to add one more thing. I'm literally throwing 'my big pink wedding' as I lovingly refer to it as, but my FH will NOT be wearing pink. Either will the groomsman. So that shouldn't be a deciding factor for you. My guys are all wearing black tuxes, black vests and most likely black bow ties.
