are most people off from work on Columbus Day? I'm starting to wonder if instead of Oct 13th, have it October 7th (a Sunday night) and everyone is off that Monday. it'd be a whole lot cheaper which means more to spend on extras/etc.
is that a good idea? are hotels more money for holidays like that? or airfare? only thing I'm sort of worried about. a lot of OOT guests. I was dead set on a Saturday night but I think it'd be sort of unique to do it on a Sunday night. fh and I both don't have normal jobs so I have no idea how the real job vacation time is
thanks in advance anyone who answers!!!

Re: Columbus Day
I'm getting married October 10 which is the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend this year. But we're doing a day wedding. We plan on partying all night and our guests who can stay are and those that need to get home can do so with plenty of time bc our reception ends at 4:30.

bear in mind some places consider that sunday prime time like a sat. I know Land's End does.

villa lombardis offered a great deal which made me start thinking of that Sunday instead. I'm just worried people won't come or party because it's a Sunday instead of that following Saturday I don't know what to do.

Re: Columbus Day
My wedding is on a Sunday, and it's not a holiday weekend. The people who can come and want to come will make proper arrangements.
While some people may have off for Columbus Day (I do, it's a bank holiday), not everyone does, so it might not even make a difference.
And yes, some RH's do consider Sundays of a holiday weekend (read: labor day, memorial day, etc.) the same rate as a Saturday night, so that could play a factor into your decision.

well so far most of the important people I know have off lol. a lot of the halls were offering deals for that Sunday which made me finally start to think about it. I haven't even narrowed down the rh list but it's good to see once I have that maybe it'll get even cheaper if I went with that day instead. I just don't want the empty end of the night party.
