Combo Vendors

Combo Vendors

Reading about everyone going to see these Combo Venders makes me just have to ask...Why not go with different vendors?

Anyone can shoot video, anyone can take pictures with a camera and anyone can be a DJ. You really don’t know what you are going to get to come down...they may show you work of one guy but he left the company 5 months ago and the 18 yr old that’s looking for a pay check is now doing it for the first time this week.

I am not trying to hate on these Vendors. I just don’t like that since everything has gone Digital; EVERYONE thinks they can do it all. Knowing some different Vendors and having being told stories, this has happened to people. I just don’t want to see anyone be upset with their finished product.

I don’t know about you guys but I am taking the Photo guy that has been in the Business for over 25 years and the Video guy that has been the same. No Combo stuff for me. I don’t trust it.

So I ask why you would go with the Combo???

Re: Combo Vendors

I don't know about the whole DJ and Photo combo...but alot of places offer both Photo and Video. Those places have certain photographers and videographers though- I don't think the photographers shoot video and vice versa. Our photo and video is from the same place.

It just scares me (and I told Brian) that they are doing this. I don’t get why it does bug me so much. I guess maybe not so much Photo and Video combo, they are close (kinda) but when you add the DJ in. We watched a DVD made by a DJ company last night that does ALL and the DVD quality was so BAD. I wouldn't even think about using them as a DJ. The sag-ways were slow, audio was off (one part was loud and the next was low) and the video itself was bad. I have shot and edited a better DVD with my JVC and computer.

Sorry I am like this about this topic but I don’t want to see anyone get crap.

edited spelling

I think it also depends what vendor you use...we're using Duet...and I think places like Duet, Patken, etc. that offer both photo/video have so many reviews on here, if the video was bad- I'd have read about it already!

I agree with you Colleen, our photo and video is the same company. But I can't understand the other combos. yes it is cheaper prob. then getting them all separate but you don't seem the same quality as you would when getting them all separate. They can have anyone doing your photo and other stuff, not trained professionals. It make me nervous! JMO

Exactly! I am using DeJa Vu and we are getting both but their Video was voted Best Video on LI through Knot.com this year. And their Photo was ranked. I know I am getting quality even tho they are a combo. If these combo Photo/Video vendors were not good trust me we would hear about it!

Ok good. I guess I am more worried about the DJ/Video/Photo combo. The DVD last night just scared me. I am sure they are good DJs but they need to stay away from the other stuff.

OMG Sean that would scare me too. But photo/Video is sooo common now I really don't know a lot of people who go to different vendors for that!

Gaby and I are but its bc I have someone that is doing my video editing. I have family that was in the video business (shot and edited...plus edited for alot of other guys) for over 30 years and just got out a few years ago to do some movie editing but still does wedding editing from time to time. He has so many awards for editing its insane.

I guess we would def look for the same type of Combo as you if we didnt have this going for us.

Re: Combo Vendors

i'm a little confused.. do you mean when a DJ takes zap shots and what not? we're usuing photo and video from the same place but like Colleen said...there's a seperate guy who only does photos and one who only does video. we are getting zap shots from our Dj and i have heard people say 'oh you get so many pics its liek you dont even need a photographer when you do zap shots' but thats SO NOT TRUE. the pictures and DVD will NOT be the same quality so you do stil need a seperate vendor, in my opinion

There are now DJ companies that do ALL....DJ, Video and Photo. Then they also do the Zap Photos...Just scary to me.
