Come see the new additions at our house! ;-)

We are FINALLY starting to hang things on our walls! We've been in the house since end of April, but decorating seems to be such a low priority, since there's still so much to do. And, after spending so much time painstakingly picking paint and carpet colors, I'm finding myself 'skiddish' about permanently hanging things on the ways...fear of making a decorating mistake!

Well, we bit the bullet this weekend and hung some shelves in our den. We took a non-traditional approach to hanging these. Instead of a straight up and down design, we chose to hang them in the corner. I like the way it came out. We got them at Home Goods - great find, since there weren't many that 'matched' each other - and they were a great price, too. They are not fully accessorized, but here's how they look so far:

Left side: that's our wedding invite, and our wall portrait that needs to be framed and matted:

Looks great - they walls look like the are painted so nice as well! I know what you mean about decorating taking the lowest priority. I have on ly been in three months but don't even want to think about teh decorative touches. Plus we are so scared to ruin our walls. I have a bunch of shelves and mirrors and stuff sitting on the floor because we are scared!

I totally know what you mean about being skiddish about putting holes in the walls!

looks great!

we tried to hang up shelves like that in our kitchen on friday & had a terrible time! we can't get the shelves to sit propertly against the wall.

I love how the color on the walls goes so well with the stain of the wood!!

did you see the linens and things brochure yesterday...they had a similar set up in black...

Jenn Thanks! Your little boyfriend was MUCH more interested in the the camera CASE than why silly Mommy was taking pictures of the wall!

Thanks everyone, for the compliments. Now I am VERY impatient to have them accessorized! But, it will probably take me some time to finish them. I am waiting for the baby's photo shoot to make any decisions on what's going in frames on the shelves and on the walls.

Whatever we do, we're pretty sure it will be very large and very black and white
