Coming off BC and breakouts?

Any of you guys experiencing major breakouts after coming off of birth control?

I'm breaking out on my face, chest and back. I never brokeout on my back and I've already gone through 2 treatments of Accutane for my face. My skin was clear until I came off of the BC.

Personally, I was fine coming off the pill. I have heard of people having skin problems going off it. I was fortunate, but one of my friends was not. I think it passed after a few months though. Good luck

It's been over 6 months already.

I have an appt w/my gyn this month, so hopefully she'll have an answer for me.

Jenny - I have pretty bad skin but I have found that the Kiehl's line of products works really well.

Also - if you feel like splurging a good facial every 6-8 weeks is good also.

You could try the Clinique 3 Step program - those who use it swear by it. Clinique does make a bunch of stuff for problem skin - might be worth a shot also.

My girlfriend had this now that you mention it and she went to the doc after going off her BC (a few months actually) and found out she was pregnant so she couldn't take anything for it!!!!

Jenny, I am having the same exact problem. I feel like I am 13 again. I went off the pill in December and every week I get a new surprise on my face. One heals and immedeately the other one comes out! I haven't had acne since I was a teenager! I dont' even know how to deal with this!

I feel your pain. I have had acne for awhile and tried everything but accutane (I am scared of it - for many reasons) that a derm. recommended. Finally I went on Yasmin and my skin got a little better - at least manageable. Well, I stoppped BC last month and the pimples are back in full force. I hate it!! And I know from past experience that nothing works for me. Urgh!

When I was originally put on birth control, one of the reasons was to control the breakouts. The few times that I have gone off of it my face, neck, back and chest will break out. My back is usually the worst. I think its completely normal. The only thing that has ever worked for me to stop it is proactive.

I never been on birth control before. But my brother's girlfriend just got off birth control. She does not breakout or nothing.

I have had acne problems since I was about 11 - varying in severity. As soon as I went on the pill 3 years ago, my face is about 95% clear.

I was just thinking about this recently! LOL well, I guess the will be worth having the acne!

I used to breakout on my face, but never my chest or back...and I mean never! I ended up completing 2 treatments of Accutane and that cleared my face up. Accutane was a godsend.

While on BC, I didn't have any breakouts either. It wasn't until I came off of them that I started to get pimples. My skin is more oily too. I'm really hoping that my hormones just need to balance out and all this will subside.

It sucks, b/c I can't go on Accutane again, especially if we intend to have children within the year. (You have to wait a year before trying to have children b/c Accutane can cause birth defects.) And nothing else has ever worked for me. I tried everything in the past.




Ya know, I think that men just don't want to create an oral contraceptive for themselves. They don't want to throw their bodies out of wack like we do.

I rarely had breakouts before going on BC, now I have been off since October and my skin is horrible It is oily and I have small little pimples on my cheeks and forehead that were never there!
