Do you think the priest will be offended if we say we don't want to include communion? He said it is optional but if the same breath said that he doesn't usually do weddings without it. The whole ceremony will be like 1 hour 15 minutes with it included and we don't know if it is necessary... Meeting with him tonight- how to discuss?

Re: Communion in Ceremony
You can have a ceremony with eucharist and not worry about time...
Here's how...And this should be perfectly acceptable to the priest because this is what mine suggested we do...
Just have the bride and groom and (if you want) the bridal party receive communion...
THere is no benediction or anything...No bearing of the gifts...

Re: Communion in Ceremony
You can also just have a ceremony. You still have readings, homily, vows, and the prayer of the faithful (ceremony lasts about 35-40 mins). The Church is ok with this since they publish a book for it (you get the book at Pre-cana). Just choose what you and your FH want.

Re: Communion in Ceremony
I thought the presence or absence of communion in the ceremony was what made the difference between having a full mass vs ceremony only?

That's what I thought too. My priest told me my wedding - a full mass - will only be 45 minutes. Gotta love that!
