Company Raises?

What is a typical yearly raise you get percentage wise?

My company ranges 2-4% a year....and I think it is just so unmotivating!

They try to keep it according to inflation rates....and they praise themselves that inflations was 2.4% this year so they consider themselves over it...but insurance is going up 28% so we will be bringing less home next year no matter what!!!

Re: Company Raises?

for the past 4 budgets my company has been at 3% across the board... it sucks.

Thankfully I am getting much more than that this year but the company as a whole has to be at 3% .. BLEHHHH, I feel bad for the assistants/support staff ... 3% sometimes means as little as $700 per year, what the heck is that??? $5 a week take home?? So stupid!

Re: Company Raises?

Since I have been working in a professional environment I have never heard of anything beyond 3%. For me, it equals out to about $20 extra a paycheck! t stinks but I feel lucky to at least have a job at this point!

Re: Company Raises?

I guess I'm really lucky, my last 2 raises were 10%. But along with those raises came alot of extra stress & responsibilities.

Re: Company Raises?

We didn't get anything last year while we were in chapter 11.

Before that, increases were on a bell curve ... 3-4% being the average. I think the most I ever got as a yearly increase was 5%.

We are actually lucky this year - no increase to benefit cost.

ETA: I've gotten raises as part of promotions (not a new position but a higher salary grade) as high as 15%

Re: Company Raises?

mine have been around 3%, its been an even $1000 more a year. It really sucks! Especially in the industry I'm in (computer systems and consulting). I could be making more as an administrative assistant!

Re: Company Raises?

I got a 15% raise earlier this year. It was because last year was my first year here and I was just out of college when I started. I basically run the place now so that raise was well deserved. Other people usually get about 5% but we are all underpaid to begin with.

That's about the same that we get, last year I didn't get that much because it was my first year and it was prorated based on the time I was there. I'm hoping for a little more this year.

Re: Company Raises?

3-6% where I work. Even though I have negotiated at times... more than 6% a few years due to plenty of work well done.

Re: Company Raises?

I got a 13% raise this year after my first year with the firm. I think 8-9% is typical for my company.

Re: Company Raises?

I have been working here for four years and finally was told I was getting a raise at the beginning of the month. OCtober. And still have not received it yet. 10% was what I was promised but I think they changed their mind and made it 7%

Re: Company Raises?

Raises also really depends on how much you are currently making.

For instance... somebody that makes 25k a year and gets a 5% raise only gets $1250. Thats far from something decent.

But the guy making 100k and gets 5%... he gets a $5000 raise... and thats not too bad... perfectly liveable.

Re: Company Raises?

I got 4% this year, but we usually get 3%. I work in higher ed, so the only way to really make more $$$ is to change jobs, up the ladder. Raises are pretty lame.
