confused about alterations

Hi Brides !

I went to get my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding today at David's Bridal (we had a good experience there) but i heard alterations are not so great there. so where in nassau can i go for alterations?

Also, what does capped prices mean - is that the max that they can charge you or the minimum?

Also, i read that a wedding gown alterations are often 350-500 but how much would a bridesmaid dress alterations cost?

I will need the bottom hem to come up 2' probably at least and some pulling around the stomach or however they do it - especially if I lose more weight.

what would that cost be around and where do i go?! (dress should be in by beginning of june- wedding in end of august- how long does alterations take?)

most people go to a tailor or seamstress if they dont' want to get it done at the store.

'Capped' is the MAXIMUM they can charge you for alterations. yours sound typical, so i wouldn't worry too much; i paid under the cap because i only need the hem done and it taken in a bit.

Bridesmaid alterations are a LOT less than the brides... usually that cap is anywhere from 50-100.

david's will screw up your dress... i've seen too many nightmares from that place in terms of laterations. i would go elsewhere. i havea great seamstress in Rockville Centre if you're looking for someone,
