Confused about hotel block

Confused about hotel block

Ok so I am really confused here.... what is the point in getting a hotel block exactly? I just looked up the night of my wedding on the hotel's website and it's the same exact price as they quoted me. Also they are not discounting the bridal suite even if we meet the 10 room minimum... so what's the point in signing a contract? Can't me and my BP just book rooms on our own through the hotel's website?? I am not interested in getting a shuttle or having a brunch the next day. So confused! Help!

The main purpose is the hotel reserves x number of rooms for you until near your wedding for you and your guests to book. You don't have to worry that by the time you send invites the hotel is booked. They should offer a discounted rate. I'd tell them you got the same price on their site and advise them what you think is a fair discount.

They should give a discount and if you reach a minimum, they generally give you a room at no charge the night of your wedding. Who did you book with?

U should be getting a discount on your room and your guests rooms!

for example: my hotel is giving my guests a rate that they booked back when i got the block, but the price keeps going up and up..so while it may be the price now, in 7 months when you rwedding comes..itll be higher, probably!

Also, my hotel takes off 100 dollars off our room if we have 10 rooms blocked...

the shuttle and breakfast was a plus for us (which i know u r not looking into)

That sounds off. My hotel gives is a room credit if we book 15 rooms, and a free shuttle to and from the venue at 10 rooms.

Look elsewhere. Providing the hotel block is nice for your OOT guests.

I called several places and all the prices were group rates, $10-30 less than published rate. the rates also go up the closer tha date goes. You don't have to do a room block, but it is nice for the guest to get a choice of a hotel near the RH, and sometimes nice to have them all in one place and get a shuttle. I also was offered free room or a discount room for X-amount of rooms booked. It cost nothing at most hotels as they do not require a deposit or a minimum booked number.

I noticed that the rate was different with 10 rooms vs. 25 rooms so that could be it, but I'd ask that question because groups get better rates so if they don't offer I'd go looking at another hotel!

depending on the number of rooms you block usually effects the price. If you are having guests from OOT you don't want them to have the hotel all booked- it's a courtesy.

Your price should not be the price of the normal hotel. I would speak to them and find out the issue.

With my block I am getting the rooms at a reduced rate for my guests, breakfast, shuttle and my room at no additional charge.

I am going there tomorrow with my mom to look at the rooms again and discuss/negotiate. The sales manager is already treating us to lunch at the hotel's restaurant so maybe this is a good sign.... keeping my fingers crossed!
