Confused about Unity Candles

I should probably know this, but how many unity candles do you typicaly have? I've seen a center pillar candle sold with 2 tapered candles on the sides, but then I've just seen one pillar candle called a unity candle. Please let me know what's normal Thanks!!!

There should be a total of 3 candles. One center candle with two tapers. You and your DH light the center candle with the two tapers.

I've seen both. The unity candles with the 2 taper candles are used by the parents of the bride and groom. I think (but I'm not positive) that if you have one pillar candle and no tapers that it is just the bride and groom that light it.

CORRECT!
we are having our moms light the 2 side candles and then we take the side candles to light the middle one!
