Confused b/w getting married at Town Hall vs application
What exactly is the difference (or what takes place that is different) between applying for your marriage license at city hall (that is only good for 60 days) vs. actually getting married at city hall?
We're having the ceremony at the RH, so we're confused as to the above....& which way should we get the license.

when you go to apply for the license you just go to a window and give them your ID and money and they give you the license...its good for 30 days I believe then you leave..and have 30 days to get married... if you want to get married there you have to go to another room, wait on line and wait for the judge to call you in (must have your license with you) and perform the ceremony.... The license doesn't become a marriage certificate until a cermony of some kind is performed and it is signed by you, FH, witnesses and someone with credentials to perform the ceremony (rabbi, minister, justice of peace..etc)
Then in the mail you will receive the actual official MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE which states the date you were actually married... it takes a few weeks to get this because it has to be filed in the courts.

There's a 24 hour waiting period after getting the marriage license before you can actually get married, unless you can get a judge to waive the waiting period. So i guess in theory you would have to get the marriage license in advance of when you go to the courthouse, if you were getting married there, and go back to have the actual ceremony. Unless they generally waive the waiting period in courthouse weddings?
