Re: Congratulations in Newspaper

I don't know if I would do that - insurance companies, banks, etc. use that info as leads and will start to contact them. My friend put an announcement in the paper and had people calling her all of the time!

We had an annoucement in the paper and it didn't generate any leads. I think its a nice idea.

Re: Congratulations in Newspaper

I'd hope we can still put notices in the paper without getting solicitations out of it! LOL

I plan to have something put in our local town paper as well as Newsday. Usually they cover: bride and groom's name, as well as parents of each, where the B & G attended school, occupations, and where the ceremony/reception is. Then some add where they plan to live afterwards or where they honeymooned.

Re: Congratulations in Newspaper

My parents had an announcement both in our local paper, FH's local paper and the pennysaver and I didn't get any solicitations, only one and it was from the town clerk asking me to see her when I go for my marriage license =)

Re: Congratulations in Newspaper

Back in July, we had our wedding announcement put in Newsday with our picture. It was very nice and we got a lot of compliemnts and no solicitations. They gave us a form to fill out and they generated the text from that, so see if the paper you want to put it in has any special forms. If not, then your on the right track....
