I am considering having a buffet style for our wedding. I never eat the dinner after cocktail hour and I dont like how we have to interupt people from socializing or dancing. The buffet style dinner is open for 2 hours. It starts an hour after cocktail hour. I think its perfect. I have been hearing good things about it.
Has anyone been to a wedding that had this?

Re: Considering buffet rather then sit down
IMO most of the time the CH food is better than the actual meal. I think this is a good option to consider. It also promotes mingling.

Instead of the elaborate CH you could probably scale down to drinks and hor douerves and save the food for the reception.

fh cousin got married there the buffet is AWESOME!!! its in the shark tank!! its sooo cool!!!!!!!!!! i loved the wedding there only thing i didnt like was that the seating for dinner and stuff is in a seperate room then the DJ and dancing so you have to be standing to watch everything going on if u dont want to dance or what not.. no seating

Re: Considering buffet rather then sit down
you have to know your guests
i know my guests would be horrified if they had to get up and serve themselves dinner - lol sounds wierd but old school italians are picky about that sort of thing
if your family is actually normal then got for it lol

I'm having a buffet. It's standard at the inn we're marrying at. But! The people at the 'head table' are served, which I think is important. As much as I don't mind having a buffet, it's my day and I don't want to wait in line for food and hold out a plate to be served, and then walk across the room carrying the food back to the table (in a white dress! the potential for disaster is huge!).

I went to Timberpoint Mansion last night and spoke with Jen. She gave me the option. I asked her if I could do it and she said it wasnt a problem and how its becoming more and more popular. She offered me a fantastic price. And she gave me a list special for the girls who came to the showcase. Its only 5 dollars pp extra for an entire raw bar!!! We liked it better during the day 100% better actually. There are other places that will do it.

Yes she did. I am willing to get married this November or October though. It helps when you book less then a year ahead. I couldnt believe the price she gave me. The place is gorgeous...

Re: Considering buffet rather then sit down
I have been to both types of dinner styles and to be honest - I enjoyed both the same!!! I didn't mind the buffett at all and liked trying the different foods (Indian wedding) but still - I say if it is something that makes you happy go for it!! It's your day!!
