All of a sudden I cannot see out of my contacts anymore. One eye is blurry, then the other, they burn when they go in, etc. I did not change my contact solution. I put new ones in (they're 2 week disposables...) This has never happened before and I've been wearing contacts since 93. I thought it was allergy related, but it's happening even on days my allergies aren't acting up. Any idea what can be causing this?

Re: Contact Lens Wearers
Maybe you have some sort of eye infection? That's only happened to me when my lenses are old or not very clean. My lens guy told me that even when the solution says 'No Rub' you should still rub a little.

Re: Contact Lens Wearers
I got the allergy drops ... that's what my eye doc thought it was. THey're not working. And I am very meticulous with my lenses so I don't know why it's happening. It's so frustrating. I tried to wear glasses for a while but they just bother me so much. Aargh..guess it's back to the eye doc. Thanks guys.

Re: Contact Lens Wearers
maybe youve developed an astigmatism. After I had Emma my contacts all of a sudden got blurry every now and then. ITs not a bad one, just enough to make me change contacts.

At my last visit, I was told I had developed a minor astigmatism, but he said it was so minor that it wasn't even worth talking about. What do you mean you had to change contacts? Get a new brand?
Re: the new contact solution: I tried that ... didn't work. ... thanks though.

It sounds like you developed an allergy or infection. You have to be really careful when it comes to your eyes. Sometimes the lens gets blurry because of a film of goo that develops on it. If this is the case, you should wash your eye with baby shampoo. Do you use that Renu or No Rub solutions? These are really bad for causing irritation. You are actually supposed to rinse it with saline before putting it back in your eye. I was told to use the saline in the aeresol can because it does not contain the same preservatives that cause irritation. It has made an enormous difference. I have also changed from 2 week lenses to daily lenses! They are fabulous and I never have any problems. I have a really strong prescription too! Its 7.5 in each eye!

Right now I'm using Bausch & Lomb RENU. Before that I was using another all in one thing. I do have a lot of allergies in the summer (hay fever) that affect my eyes, so I'm sure it's contributing somehow, but I'll bet you it is the all-in-one thing. Nobody ever told me I should rinse it with saline before putting it in my eyes. But it does BURN like crazy when I put them in. The strange part is that it never happened before this summer though. I will try saline in the aeresol can. You used this in addition to RENU? If not, how do you get the bacteria off? You probably don't need to bc you wear daily contacts, right?

Re: Contact Lens Wearers
I don't need to because of the daily lenses. My eye doctor (the greatest eye doc in the world IMO) said that you should get rid of the no rub solutions and go back to the old fashion multi-step kind.
I used to wear colored contacts, but I decided to get rid of them because I could not handle using a multi-step procedure each night. It was the best decision I ever made. The daily lenses are the best and I have even grown to like my brown eyes. My eyes are NEVER irritated anymore.
The doctor did tell me that simply rinsing with saline after your eyes are already irritated probably won't solve the problem. You need to use the multi-step until the irritation ceases and then go back if you want (rinsing with saline of course).
