Anyone have any info on the Continous Cocktail Hour?? Any reviews?, or sites that offer this? I'm about to start shopping for reception halls and I'd like to have some details before I start. Is it cheaper than a standard 'sit-down'?

Re: CONTINUOUS COCTAIL HOUR??
We actually thought about this for a minute. I haven't been to one but some of my friends have and they LOVED it!!! I think most people love the cocktail hour so when it's made longer into the whole night it's a home run, the reason we didn't do it is because our parents weren't too big on it, they knew that they're age and older love getting a sit down meal so we went with being traditional...but I would love to go to a wedding like this!

Villa lombardis does one.... If you research it more.... You'll find out its costs just as much as a sit down dinner.

i think it could be lovely, but you have to be VERY careful.
I recently went to one, and the brides whole extended family is talking about how she 'cheaped out'...
the ceremony began at 7, so by 8:30, when the reception started, everyone was STARVING, and basically mauling the waiters to get food before the trays emptied.
There also wasn't enough seating for all the guests (i guess the bride expected everyone would mingle like you do in a typical cocktail hour) but when you're wearing high heels to a 'black tie wedding' you want a place to sit.
Most of the guests missed the 'grand entrance, first dance, father/daughter dance, and/or cake cutting, etc.' because they were too busy trying to find food or a seat.
sooo if you do it, i would suggest you inform your guests a head of time, and plan accordingly, so that these sorts of things don't happen.
I'm sure the bride spent plenty of money on the wedding, so it's a shame that everyone will only remember the not-so-good-stuff.

I agree that you have to be careful. I recently went to an otherwise gorgeous wedding, besides the food part. It was a cocktail style reception, and guests literally had to wait online for about half an hour to get food. Forget if you missed something and wanted to try it or if you wanted seconds of something...the wait was too long! It was the only wedding I've been to where I left hungry.
If you decide to go this route, make sure there will be servers even to come around to refill water (nope, we didn't even get water refills...had to wait on line for the bar...another half hour!).
