Did anyone sign a contract with their florist prior to giving them a hefty deposit? What does the contract usually stipulate? Do you get so specific at to the type of flowers you will have or the # of stems? My florist wants a deposit without any contract, I am not comfortable with that nor do I want to offend him since he seems like a trustworthy person.

Re: Contracts - Need advice PLEASE
we signed a contract when we placed the deposit - and it told us how many flowers, types, etc....i would recommend doign that too.....right down to how many bo-k's, buttoneires, centerpieces, anything else you want, etc.
good luck! - follow your gut - if you don't want to give them money without a contract, theres probably a reason!

I would NOT give anyone money without a contract or how will you know the terms - they could change everything on you and you might not get your money back - at the very least you should get something from them stating: The agreed price, the cancellation terms, the payment terms, and at a very minimum what they are generally providing (you should want something specific - but that is the minumim you should get)
If you give them money with no contract they could tell you - well you agreed to 10 roses a table rather than say 4 dozen and 2 bouquets rather than 6 ...and if they verbally tell you the money is refundable they could turn around later and say it's not - it is never a good idea to give a deposit without something in writing especially when dealing with flowers

I agree with Christine. I would never trust anyone with my money unless I have something in writing. If anything bad happens, you have a back-up of what you should have received and fight for it.

Thanks Ladies, my gut was telling me the same, I just didn't want to offend the guy if it was not common practice.
