This may sound wierd, but I was thinking of doing conversation starts. Just a few pieces of paper with a little fact about people at the table for those tables where everybody doesn't know each other.
E.g.: Some people at this table are lawyers.
What do you think? Cute or cheesy?

Re: Conversation starters
It depends on how it's done really. The example you gave might serve more as a warning than a convo starter. Just kidding. I can't believe how close you are!!!

Re: Conversation starters
at our RD we did a time capsule and gave every couple (or person) a sheet with questions on it.....for us to open our tenth year anniversary. it was a good conversation starter because everyone there has a common bond...the bride and groom...there were quesionts like how many kids will they have, will they both be working ...to things like will they be part of the mile high club.....who will have threatened a divorce....where will they live...I found it at a bridal shop in new hampshire but i am sure you oculd find it online too...or make your own

Hey, I'm a lawyer!
I have a bunch of peopel who don't know each other at these tables, but they all have something in common, so I wanted to put little notes.
I know!! 10 days! And here I am, making up projects for me to do.

Hey, I'm a lawyer!
I know, that's why I said it.
Seriously though, I would do it more in the form of a story than a statement. Example: Two of the attorneys at this table butted heads with the bride during civil trials. Something like that, that would stir up more questions rather than a Oh, that's nice.

Re: Conversation starters
That would be great...if that were true. One lawyer is my boss, one is my sister's father in law. One I met once- he is the dad of my FH's cousin's wife.
But I see what you mean. Good idea- I will think about it some more.

I think it's cute - definately a good way to get people talking to each other.

Re: Conversation starters
We're going to do the table camera scavenger hunt where they have to take pics of the couple who traveled the furthest or has been married the longest or has the most colorful dress, etc.
