I din't register for cutlery (we already have) but my cookware is All clad and it is $599 for a 10 piece set. I thought I was being greedy but, my said its the only time you can actually ask for and get what you really want.

The cookware set we want is over $600! So I don't think you are nuts.

We registered for the Analon 10 piece set and it came with a free gift, either a stockpot or roasting pan, it was $299. It seems to be really good. Our friends have it and they have been married for 3 years and said its good.

BTW: we registered for it at Fortunoff, BBB has the same set for the same price but no free gift

We registered for the Emerilware stainless steel line ($199) which is made by AllClad but we really wanted the original AllClad stainless steel line ($499)

Re: Cookware/Cutlery

i talked to this cookware expert (omg i learned sooo much from him!) and he told me never to buy sets because they always give you pieces you don't need so that you'll buy more separates. yes they include a couple of requisite pieces, but it is still a much better deal to buy them separate.

i figured that people would be more likely to buy it off the registry if they are separate too. i registered for all clad and a japanese knife set called global. they're much lighter than calphalon, wusthof, henckels, etc. and it's what all the sushi chefs use.

cookware and cutlery is very expensive.

hope this helps!

I registered for (but didn't get ) a nonstick Scanpan cookware set. Yes, the name sounds weird, but it's from Denmark. It is THE BEST nonstick cookware. I just bought a pot last month - love it!!! I made caramelized onions in it and they came out awesome (and didn't stick!) You can use metal utensils on Scanpan - that's how durable it is.

I didn't register for cutlery because I already have the Henckels Pro S series. Love my knives!

Scanpan 11 piece nonstick cookware set - $450

Henckels Pro S 9 piece block set - around $350

Cookware- Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel - $399

Cutlery- Wustoff 10-pc Block Set - $399

Love love love my knives ... they are excellent. I also purchaseda 7' santuko from Wustoff also - it's my favorite knife of all of them. I highly recommend it.

As for for Pots & Pans If I had to do it over, I'd go with AllClad Statinless Steel or Viking cookware ... only but the BEST for cookware in my opinion ... it seriously makes all the difference in the world ... while I like the Calphalon Tri-ply, I think the AllClad & Viking just performs that much better - less staining, sticking, even heating control, weight/balance ...

or maybe ... it's just my 24' stove that's the problem! Not enough room to cook!
