Coral House

Coral House

Hi, I just got engaged a little over two weeks ago and me and my fiancee have been looking at places. The one place that sticks out in my head is the Coral House, we got the Americana Ballroom on a saturday afternoon for 150 minimum guests. If anyone has any information about the Coral House I would love to know about the food and the service, and if anyone went to a wedding there if they liked it. I most likely will be booking it on Friday night, so if anyone can get that info back to me before then I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Re: Coral House

First of all congratulations and welcome!

Secondly, I have no idea about coral house, a co worker of mine got married there and had nothing but good things to say.

Wow! You are already planning after only 2 weeks! I haven't done a damn thing and it's been 9 months!

Best of Luck!

My sister inlaw had her wedding there in the same room. The food was excellent.

Never went to a wedding there but FI and I looked at the place. Linda is very nice (banquet manager) and we had a tasting when we visited. The food is good and the view of the lake is very pretty.

Don't know about the service since we only went for a brief time but you can forum mail myasmom. She had her wedding reception at Coral House and loved it.

Re: Coral House

wow I have alot to say about the coral house.
They were wonderful to work with. We had so much food that I dont know how they make $$$. We had the Rooftop terrace for cocktail hour and the nantuket deck for the reception, we had a smaller wedding approx 130, I am so bad cant pinpoint exact number lol.

We got compliments from DH friends who have $$, they ate so much and drank and had a good old time. We had a little glitch with the DJ and they handled it beautifully. The service, once again I had no complaints. My Maitre'D was by my side and so was linda..They gave me hugs and kisses when I came in..I felt at home.

I have pics, soi f you are interested I can forward them to you. Its a great choice

Re: Coral House

I am getting married at the Coral House in 2006, I have the same room as you also...I really like the place, the food is really good, I did a tasting when I went to start my contract. I've been to 2 weddings there and it was wonderful..Quick question, I noticed your minimum for the same room is 150, but my minimum is 175, I wonder if it depends on the time of year you are booking that the minimum changes.....I may have to follow-up with that... But anyway, everything will be wonderful....can't wait to hear your review of it next year.

My brother got married there. It was a while ago (1992) but it was great.

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the boards!

Re: Coral House

My sister had her reception in the Americana Room and in my opinion, it is the nicest room there. My brother had his wedding there in another room. My sister's CH was on the rooftop and was fantastic, but I missed my brother's CH. We did look at it for our wedding- there are so many choices for the menu and I think you get a lot of bang for the buck there. Good luck!
Also- my sister had her cermony outside there (in September) and got some beautiful photos in front of the lake when the sun was setting.

Re: Coral House

Hey, just to get back on the 150 minimum. The room usually requires a 175 minimum, but since I got nervous about that (especially since I have about 15 kids coming and they are only half price after you meet your minimum) I was told that they would let me do 150 if I had it on a Saturday afternoon...and since I have so many neices and nephews that I want involved in my day I figured the afternoon would be fine. The room is beautiful and spacious so even if I have more than 150 I cant lose!

And just to reply to all the other women who replied to my message, thanks so much for your input. I knew I was gonna pick this place to get married at cause I loved it from the outside everytime I passed it on Merrick road with my fiancee....but now I know that the food is good and a good time should be had by all of my guests. Thanks so much, any more information is welcome!!!

Re: Coral House

Oh okay I see....well that's good, I am getting married on a Sunday evening on June 4th, peak season, so I could understand the difference.

Re: Coral House

Yea, the person we spoke to when we went to go look at the Coral House told us that because the Americana room can hold about 300 people or so that they can't sway on the minimum too much unless its an off peak season or time. I'm going to book the Coral House tomorrow night, so I'm psyched! When you booked...was the gratuity for waiters and waitresses included in the price or did you have to pay a percentage on top of the maitree d tip, ny state tax, and the regular price??? If you could let me know id appreciate it!

Re: Coral House

All gratuities are included for waiters, waitresses & bartenders, the maitre D is not and it is $1.50 per person..

Re: Coral House

The gratuity for the waiters is included in the price but you have to pay for the maitre D seperately. About 1.50 PP.

As for the minimum, yes the price differs based on the season. It actually can hold more than 300 people..it is for 400 and up. When I went I saw it set up for 150 and they actual parted off a part of the room since it looked empty with 150..it really is a huge room lol. Those are the words from Linda.

dpli...I agree that Americana room is beautiful but in my opinion all the rooms at the coral house are

Re: Coral House

Thanks for the info on gratuities. I guess I will talk to Linda or whoever helps me tomrrow about what they will do with the room with 150 guest..even though its quite possible that I will have more. I was thinking if there was extra room maybe they could put some round cocktail area tables from downstairs on the sides for people who want to get away from the dj and the noise and talk....we have some out of towners. Just an idea...but we'll see what she suggests. I'm so excited to go tomorrow now!!
