Coral House

Coral House

Hi, I just got engaged a little over two weeks ago and me and my fiancee have been looking at places. The one place that sticks out in my head is the Coral House, we got the Americana Ballroom on a saturday afternoon for 150 minimum guests. If anyone has any information about the Coral House I would love to know about the food and the service, and if anyone went to a wedding there if they liked it. I most likely will be booking it on Friday night, so if anyone can get that info back to me before then I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Re: Coral House

It was the first place DH and I looked at. It was in our price range and the food was pretty good.

We went to a business function there and were in the smaller room. There was a wedding in the Americana and we heard EVERYTHING!!! A bit distracting to say the least. Also, even though the food was good, service was quite lacking. We waited forever a second cup of coffee, and dishes weren't cleared promptly.

It's also on a very busy street w/parking across the street. That didn't appeal to us, especially w/some elderly guests.

This is just my opinion. There are other brides that had wonderful experiences. Just follow your gut feeling.

Good luck,
Donna

PS Our reception was at the Stewart Manor Country Club, and was totally amazing!!! Highly recommended!!! (www.stewartmanor.com)

First I'd like to say Welcome to LIWeddings.com!!

Unfortunately, FH and I never looked into Coral House for any of our functions. Some of the halls we did look into was Windows on the Lake and the Riviera but ultimately we went with Majestic Gardens.

I have heard good things about Coral House but have never actually attended an affair.

Guess, I'm not much help! But good luck with all of your planning!!!

Welcome to LIW!

FH and I looked at the Coral House. Initially we loved it. We went there on a weekday night when there were no affairs going on. We both thought it was lovely! We took our parents back there the following weekend on a Saturday afternoon when there were 2 parties going on. The room we were going to have our reception in was the Nantucket Deck. This room is right outside of the kitchen, and when we were looking around, 3 staff members almost ran me over cuz they were so busy. The kitchen was very loud. In retrospect, I also didnt like the fact that they would let us look in the room while another event was going on. The food is excellent and the staff is very nice- but IMO, there are better places out there that are not that much more money that are more private and more classy.

Re: Coral House

Hey ladies, thanks for your replies. We have gone to the Coral House on weekends where there are weddings and I haven't noticed a problem of parties intersecting or hearing other parties. I will have the Americana room so I guess even if that is a problem I guess it won't be that much of a problem for my guests. I have been impressed overall with the place and with the feedback I have gotten from it...and I appreciate even the negative feedback, just gives me things to think about and helps me to avoid certain problems when my big day comes...so keep the comments coming! Thanks!!

Congrats!!
CH is beautiful! we went to an engagement party there in July.. and the food was delicious!
the negative feedbacks are good... b/c they let you know what things you should bring up with your banquet manager when you are setting up the final details
Congrats again... and Welcome to the 05 board
