Coral House

Has anyone heard anything bad or good about the Coral House? I really need some reviews.

If you do a search for Coral House in the bride's review you'll find reviews and pictures.

Definitely do a search. I don't want to offend anyone, but the last wedding I went to there )last year) was horrible. The CH was ok, but the reception food was inedible. My whole table went out to dinner afterwards. Hopefully things have changed.

Hopefully she tasted the food before she booked! Otherwise, maybe things have changed. I hope so!

I got their package in the mail and the rooms in the brochure looked nice and the menu nice as well. However after speaking to a close friend of mine who recently went to a wedding there she told me the food was not that good.

I went to wedding there years ago. Again the food was horrible and that is what we all remembered.
I actually was there last week for an after school teachers reception and the food did not improve with age. The salad was good and I found the Dijon chicken not very good. I sampled the pasta but it was over cooked and the sauce was inedible and I love all pasta. Sorry the staff was great and I would suggest taste testing there so hopefully there are better meals.

Re: Coral House

I just read some of the reviews on the Bride's Review and all of the brides gave the Coral House a rave review about the food and service. that seems so weird when so many guests of weddings have bad things to say...

maybe it's true that Brides really don't eat at their own weddings....I really don't understand the discrepancy.

I too am sorry to say that the food is no good. It's a shame too because the place is pretty. I went to two weddings there, the last was in 2001, and it wasn't great.

I went to a wedding there and it was very nice. I don't really remember the food (this wedding was about 4 years ago). I remember the rigatoni alla vodka was pretty good.

CBS did a report on catering halls not too long ago, and the Coral House was listed as one of the cleanest in the metro area. Just FYI.

Good luck with your search.

Re: Coral House

I haven't been to a wedding there, but have been to several other functions. The food is hit or miss, ask around for menu selections and then you'll know what to avoid.

-I would not say the location is a dump. I lived about 10 minutes from there. Yeah its off a busy street but once you are inside its not that bad. The pond has gotten much cleaner after their outdoor renovations.
-If it fits your budget and style, I wouldn't rule it out.

Re: Coral House

I have to say I am offended by some of these remarks. I am getting married there in less then 4 months and it is far from a 'dump.' They actually did a lot of remodeling. As for the food, loved it! Every catering hall has people who love or hate the food and has good/bad days. The Coral House was also on that Catering Hall review on the channel 2 news with no violations, whereas other halls had many.

PS. Remember that there may be someone getting married at a place that you don't like, and you could possibly offend someone by your comments.

ETA: I never thought of the Coral House as being 'cheap' or a 'dump' and I don't live very far from there. There are many well known catering halls on busy roads. Also if you don't like the place , fine. You don't have to use such harsh words.

Remember, those of us who are having weddings @ the Coral House..our wedding is just as much important to us as yours is to you! I would never say anything about a hall that LIW bride may be having their wedding at! UGHH!!

Re: Coral House

Exactly, I am getting married there next year and have been to 2 weddings there and the food was wonderful.. I also did a tasting along with a dear friend who has excellent taste with food and was very pleased with the items we have tasted. The people I've spoke to about the Coral House all gave it a rave review. Maybe it was a bad day for you guys..

Re: Coral House

well, I hope all of you have great experiences there. My cousin was very excited when she told me she booked there, so I am glad to read good things.

I guess everyone and everything can have an off night.

Good luck, and in everything, go with you gut!

Re: Coral House

I did a tasting there in September of 2004. We went there to check out the place and there was a party there that night, so they let us try the same food. I thought it was fine. I wouldn't say it was the best food ever (think it's hard to make the best food ever for large quanitities of people), but it certainly tasted the way it should have.

I wouldn't worry about it. You picked the place because you loved it and it fit the wedding YOU want to have. If you are worried, maybe once you pick your menu you can have a tasting of any items you might be nervous about.

Re: Coral House

I have never been ther for a wedding but I did go and look at the place the room was very nice I jsut wasn't to thrilled with where the cocktail hour would be that you had to go all the way down stairs and through that long hallway. Thats just my opinion.

My FH Brother got married there and the food was decent.

A friend of mine went there twice and once the food wasn't that great and the other time the food was good.

You have to remember it depends on who the cook is that nite and you should ask if the chef that is working the nite of the tasting is the same chef that is working the nite of you wedding you can request that.

I am not knocking the place it was a nice place but I jsut didn't like the cocktail room. Also the Girl that I delt with she was kinda rude and wasn't trying to sell the place she was very blah.

I live within walking distance of the Coral House; so Ive been around it my whole life and i would NEVER have considered having my wedding there. Honestly, its a dump; no one that lives around here would have their wedding there. Plus a friend of mine worked there and she has told me many bad things about the way it operates.

Its cheap, the food is bad and its in the middle of a bust area and its next to a not so great high school.

Just my opinion, I would reconsider....

haha, thats funny, i also live within walking distance to the coral house too! my sister used to work there too!
